Superb!!

Will this one be 060 compatible or is that still on the to-do list? (Sorry, not been keeping up with the thread as most if it is way over my head).

Good question.

For now I can only supply a plain 16MHz version and an untested 'accelerated' version, with some chance of the latter not working. So only the plain version will work for certain.

There will also be different flavours with much higher quality audio - there is still some quasi-configurability there which is still baked into the code and hopefully will end up in the config file instead.

When I get a little more time I'll validate the other build on 040 at least and maybe get somebody to test 060 before posting it.

I just found the part in the recording where BM is shown, but it all went a bit pear-shaped it seems.

- window was supposed to be 80% of screen size, not a postage stamp. I may have archived the wrong config file or something.
- the attract mode was made to run automatically for the party (no menus) - there were bits made specially for people to see at the party

We can get to see it properly when its uploaded :)

Nah, I just checked the archived config.

Clearly, making remote entries is not a good idea.

Doug, it wasn't half that bad as you think ;) I don't know what was the 'special' thing to see but everyone saw the SV2014 sign and the other bits -- since the bigscreen was huge, everybody could see everything, we thought the small(-ish) screen is there intentionally to show the maximum speed ;-)

Can someone clear up what was going on with the Quake shown immediately after Bad Mood? Was it 030 or 060 or something else?

Ha, I'd known nobody would understand it :D There was a huge chaos when it comes to Falcon entries because Piter's Falcon/CT60 was very unstable/weird behaving so we had to patch things up on the fly -- for example Rift would run only with a 128 MB card while Decadence's invitation only with a 64 MB one. I'd expected that Quake would be shown as a wild entry, with me explaining that it's actually a brand new code base which merges Quake, QuakeWorld client and QuakeWorld server together and you can play on the Internet against bad PC guys, hoping that somebody would have got Ethernat/Svethlana to show it.

In the end it was a part of the Game competition, nobody really understood anything but people liked it anyway :D Aaah, demoparties, always so much chaos ;-)

No, it has been changed by somebody. Either edited the .cfg, or (more likely) pressed the '-' key a bunch of times while setting up. It remembers previous settings when quit.

I wouldn't intentionally present a version at lower resolution than what has already been shown on YT.

Next time, such things will not be configurable :) Lesson learned!

BTW glad you got a chance to show the new QW build for CT6x at the show - I didn't know about that entry until you explained it to us.

That's it built - will be linked from the site soon.

Phew! :)

Remember - if you have MIDI hardware, make sure to give it a try. Details in the .cfg file and readme. The game runs a bit faster this way too.

Beta release is here:

http://devilsdoorbell.com/binary-downloads/

[NOTES]

1) I can't link the DOOMU.WAD commercial wadfile - you'll need to locate that. Details on required version inside the archive.

2) Instructions and extra info can also be found in the dropdowns on the main site.

3) More versions will follow, for higher-spec machines.

I tried to run it but can't get it to work.
First time I started it, it was calculating a lot of stuff that took an hour or so. After that it quit back to desktop and when I try to run it again it stops at "I_InitSound"

The previous version of BadMood was working.

Do you have the right WAD file?

...and enough free space for it to build the cache? An hour seems like a long time - should be 20 mins i think, although i didnt time it accurately :)

...and TOS 4.04 (doesn't work with emutos for some reason)

I didn't time it really, but I was able to watch a show on TV while it was calculating and it took awhile.

I have an ultimate doom wad file that was working in the last version.

I have over 400Mb memory left on the HD so that shouldn't be a problem

Ok. Tried rebooting before running it?

A few people have reported the party version working (and it ran at SV) so it must be all intact - but will see if anyone else reports a problem with the last archive....

If you first try it with Hatari, you need v1.8 WinUAE CPU core version, TOS 4.04 and most likely 14MB RAM. And to see statusbar you need to start BM with "--natfeats yes", so that BM detects Hatari correctly (BM then avoids palette tricks as current Hatari Videl emulation updates palette only on VBL). I'll usually add also options: "--conout 2 --fast-forward yes" to have faster booting and to see BM output in console in case there are issues.

EDIT: downloaded also the official beta version ZIP file, and that works also fine in Hatari.

It gets permanently stuck?

Are you using Hatari or a real Falcon btw?

....there was a bug I recently found in Hatari which interfered with DSP function - it got fixed in Hatari v1.7 or 1.8, I don't remember which now - but it could be related. It was causing problems with BadMooD quite recently until it got fixed.

Did you un-archive from the zip or from the ARJ files? Last time I did a release the ZIP was causing people problems - the ttp seemed to be corrupt. Still, this sounds very strange to me.

...and, is the machine modded in any way? CPU or bus speeder?

...what HD driver software are you using btw? I don't expect problems with others but I only tested HDDriver v8.4 :)

...and while I remember - disable AUTO stuff and run it from a hires/16colour or mono desktop. Not that it should matter, but then it matches my setup here. just curious!

Well I guess I need to wait for proof that the linked archive works for at least one person on a Falcon.
