Hi Marcel,
I've read your walkthrough. Very nice.
Like you said me by email, you haven't been able to use my tool because of your internet connection. Too bad, because you'll find all your answers with my utility.
I checked some points you mentioned:
- Fixing the firing pin: When one walks to the workbench at the back
of the Excalibur and tries to fix the pin by entering
> FIX PIN
> USE WIRE
a message appears that only a genius would know into which of the
999 holes to put the wire. Which one is it?
And what is the point of it, since a working pin can be aquired
from the crate on Starbase-4 anyway? Just a joke from the
developers?
You're right. The only result you can obtain, whatever you enter is:
Code: Select all
YOU HEAR A GRINDING CRUNCH. A TINY PART FALLS TO THE FLOOR, CONVENIENTLY ROLLING INTO SOME UNREACHABLE AREA. YOU SET THE FIRING PIN ASIDE. NOTHING ELSE OCCURS.
- Here's the part that will cost you up to 9 lives:
Try the coordinate you've got and fill in the missing value,
using a value from 0-9. One of them should work. Of course you have
to step on the transporter each time to try, and if it wasn't the
right one, as mentioned, you'll loose a life.
- NOTE: If you find a better way to get the missing value, please
let me know, so I can add it here - thanks!
You can't
This coordinate has always the format 7?4?H where ? is a number between 0 and 9. The missing number is always the one before H.
- You destroy the Klingon ship!! NOTE: This apparently happens only on
level 4D! On the previous levels, the Klingon ship "performs a
spectacular evasive roll" and they laugh at you! And you'll get the
message as described below at the ending of the lower levels.
But on 4D, the satisfaction is all yours !!
In fact, the result when you fire to the Klingon Ship depends on 2 items you have:
- the rabbit's foot (you are lucky)
- the lucky patch (you are VERY lucky)
You find the rabbit's foot in the crate, and LT. Moore gives you the lucky patch:
Code: Select all
SOMEONE SUDDENLY APPEARS FROM AROUND THE CORNER! IT'S JUST LT. MOORE. I'M LOOKING FOR MY LUCKY RABBIT'S FOOT. OH, I SEE YOU'VE FOUND IT ALREADY! I'DREALLY LIKE IT BACK. PLEASE, IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO ME? DO YOU GIVE IT BACK?
If you give him the rabbit's foot back, he says you:
- at level 4D:
Code: Select all
THANKS! WAIT, I'M NOT BEING FAIR. TAKE MY PATCH, IT'S VERY LUCKY! I WON'T BENEEDING IT ANYWAY WITH MY RABBIT'S FOOT.
- at the others:
Code: Select all
THANKS A LOT. MAYBE I CAN DO SOMETHING FOR YOU SOMEDAY. SEE YA' ROUND...
So, when you fire to the Klingon Ship, you obtain:
- if you have none of the items:
Code: Select all
THE KLINGON SHIP EXECUTES A SPECTACULAR EVASIVE ROLL. THE PHASERS MISS, HITTING THE AREA IT STOOD ONLY AN INSTANT AGO. THEY BROADCAST: BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME.
- if you have the rabbit's foot:
Code: Select all
YOUR PHASERS STRIKE A GLANCING BLOW AS THE KLINGON SHIP STARTS EVASION. THEY RETURN FIRE, AND HIT! YOUR CONTROLS GOUP IN SPARKS. THE FIRING PIN IS BROKEN AGAIN. CONSIDER YOURSELF VERY LUCKY.
- if you have the lucky patch:
Code: Select all
YOUR PHASERS SLASH INTO SPACE, TEARING GIANT FURROWS THROUGH UNPROTECED KLINGON STEEL. SUDDENLY, BRILLIANT FLAMES ERUPT FROM THE KLINGON SHIP, RIPPING IT (AND EVERYTHING INSIDE) INTO GLOWING SHARDS.THE DEVASHA BREKH IS GONE! WHAT SKILL!
I let you the pleasure to discover everything else
Have fun!
