Hatari EasyMint, HDD images for download

Post by Entuzio »

This is Hatari emulator, emulating the Atari Falcon 030 on 32MHz with EasyMint, XaAES, Videlity, NVDI and Thing Desktop. It's stable and very Fun. It's dedicated to Programming with GBE from Lonny Pursell. GBE is a modern GFA-Basic Environment. Making games or demos for Falcon or compatibles, with Hatari, is now possible. Greetings to all Atarianer ... Some explanation. The SCC.XDD driver is disabled because it's not working (stopped the system at boot). The 256-color mode has a palette mismatch, therefor the color are not repesented corectly. In Linux use the 2.2.1 version of Hatari because the 2.3.1 has no sound. In windows the 2.3.1 works with sound. Please share your finished Hatari EasyMint setup with us. The goal is to get the best of it..... Grettings.

Nice one for this Entuzio. Looking forward to playing around with it later on today.

Very nice. Congrats !
For the video was it with the 16MHz 68030 emulation or the 32 ? It’s quite fast and responsive
I have to test it.

This is my simple config prior to me adding a GEMDOS folder to point to where my old GFA source is :)
falcon.zip
Running TOS v4.04 with the Falcon CPU set to be 68030 and with an FPU installed.

Naturally, you will have to change the folder locations of your TOS and where the two .IMG files are located.

Out of curiosity, in the video demonstrating this setup, what hardware is Hatari running on? It seems like your setup is way, way more responsive and snappy than mine :)

I figured as much :-)

The PC I use is virtually ancient, and it shows - Hatari seems to require a CPU with quite some muscles in order for emulation of TT@32Mhz to run smoothly. The outdated 4 core AMD CPU I use is straining with that in Hatari at 3.6Ghz.
I fully appreciate that the main objective for this emulator is to be accurate rather than cheat for speed though - and my PC is far from decent by today's standards :-D

Having said that, I really like the performance showing in your video, it is a really nice GBE dev setup :)

Because of the Copyright of HDD driver 8.13(almost 20 years old) i must change the harddisk driver in this compilation. I was noticed from Uwe Seimet himself. If anyone has a working free or abandoned driver let me now. Maybe the ICD driver would work. Can anybody help me to find ICD driver to test it. Thx in advance.

HDDRIVER is one of the very few commercial software packages that is still in active development, supported by its author, and being sold. One should respect that.

I wonder: Can your image be used with EmuTOS (https://emutos.sourceforge.io/), especially with the latest snapshots (https://sourceforge.net/projects/emutos ... snapshots/)? Then you would not need a standalone disk driver as it is already included.

PS: This is your image, booted with the current EmuTOS snapshot instead of Atari TOS 4. Working, as you can see:

I also used EmuTOS and upped the CPU to 68060 @32MHz. Worked as well and was really fast.

Hataris support for TOS 4.04 isn't complete anyway, so maybe you should use emutos instead, which also solves the choice of a harddisk driver ;)

If you want to stick with TOS 4.04, you can use the free hard disk driver CECILE
http://centek.online.fr/atari/softs/s_cecile.htm
The page is in French but the soft is in English IIRC

About only Falcon / TOS v4.x feature still missing from latest EmuTOS snapshots is HiColor (16-bit "true color") support. There are some Falcon demos, games and applications which use it, but e.g. most applications do not need it.

If you're running applications under TT emulation, you can try disabling Hatari 030 cache emulation, for a significant speed up. It's mostly (Falcon) demos and some games that require exact cache emulation for things to be properly in sync.

From command line you can disable CPU cache emulation with "--cpu-exact off", in the SDL GUI it's the "Cycle exact" CPU option.

Hi,

I probably did something stupid but I can't make Hatari boot on these images, TOS just start just like if these images are not valid.
Looking at other working configs I have for Hatari, there are all booting from a host folder.
Any idea what can be wrong? I'm using Win10.
