Seems like a floppy drive issue?
STE: Desktopper case, IDE interface, UltraSatan (8GB + 512Mb) + HXC floppy emulator. Plus some STE's/STFM's
Re: Rare disk images, plus BBC 6!
I doubt MSA would create a file if the FDC reported read error. And even in that case, the MSA file should have a valid header, which is not.Dal wrote:Seems like a floppy drive issue?
Re: Rare disk images, plus BBC 6!
Previous batch made by Tronic last week didn't suffer of the header bug. Headers were valid, but the archives were corrupted (if you edit BIO_OVR.MSA made last week, you'll see a mention about Google Chrome inside!).npomarede wrote:I doubt MSA would create a file if the FDC reported read error. I really think the transfer between the ST & the PC corrupted the data. I had the same issues, but it was around 2001... with Windows Me.
Unless Tronic's floppy drive has a bad DMA, but it doesn't explain Google Chrome's chain characters inside the .MSA.
Re: Rare disk images, plus BBC 6!
Also you don't happen to have any copies of dragon ninja in those batch of disks do you?

Re: Rare disk images, plus BBC 6!
BBC4 image has strange size - only 77 tracks. Beside that Steem accepts it not, there is big chance that some data is missing. And why DIM format ? OK, it's easy to convert to ST format, but most of people does not know how .TronicOfEffect wrote:Here is BBC number 4 and 6.......DIM format..... finally got round to it! Rest to comeaktiv8 wrote:Any update on these?
Enjoy.
Possible that there was reading error at track 77, and SW stopped. But it should give some error message .... I have feeling that you using crap SW or just can not set it properly .
What about imaging on PC with Floppy Imager ? Just don't come with some "inspired by ..." that it is dangerous

Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.

Superb stuff!
Most appreciated Tronic
As for any issues with the BBC menus, I'm sure as CJ now has them in his hands, they will be sorted if any issue does arise

Re: Rare disk images, plus BBC 6!
Look, I don't care for BBC menu disks. I just DL-ed it being curious about errors in your imaging. And in that latest ZIP there is again error.TronicOfEffect wrote: LOL.....no. I have been using a Atari for over 20 years, I assure you I know what I am doing! Sorry I bothered...
As said, only 77 tracks of BBC4 are imaged - look weird file size. And I say that you don't know what doing - in pure constructive critic, hoping that will correct error and make proper image with 80 tracks imaged.

Re: Rare disk images, plus BBC 6!
I agree with AtariZoll, there's no reason no version of MSA works in your case and DIM works, maybe it's just that the DIM dumps are hiding imaging errors in a way it's not as easy to spot as with MSA images ?AtariZoll wrote:Look, I don't care for BBC menu disks. Are you using fastcopy to dump in DIM format ? If so, it should show you the status of each track and whether it imaged 80 tracks or just 77.
It's also possible your DIM program is using the FAT to only images used tracks and BBC 4 uses only 77 tracks ? But it would be better to always image the whole 80 tracks, whatever tracks are used or not.
Or the dump is correct, but there's a problem when the file is transferred to your PC ?
Re: Rare disk images, plus BBC 6!
In DIM header stays that it is 80 tracks. I really can not know was problem with imaging SW on Atari, or just end of file went lost later ...
But something was missing here for sure: testing images before putting online. It really takes not much time.
