[WANTED] Pompey Pirates #47 and #67

You can discus menu disks by all those classic ST hack & pack teams. If you have questions, requests or remarks about hackers, packers, screens or just menu disks in general, this is the place to be!

[WANTED] Pompey Pirates #47 and #67

Post by simonsunnyboy »

Working versions please, the ones I have from the LGD CDROM do not show anything useful.

A major addition of my Pompey Pirates page at http://pompeypirates.atari.org/ is planned soon, so stay tuned!

Have tested both following disks, they seem to work fine
(sorry simonsunnyboy, I'm a big fan of menus, but I admit I didn't test pp collection before today).

I also discovered the problem as of today when I tried to capture screenshots, and except for those two all others did work.

Thanks!

My idea is to bring the old LGD idea of the menu screenshots with content listing back, in my case for PP menues only, this time with all border shots, LGD had PacifiST borderless shots only.

Looks like you have a nice collection going on there.
I am afraid that my own collection of original menu's are in a safe lock up back in the UK so I cannot help you that way but if I can help with anything else please just contact me and I will be only topo pleased to help.

Well if you want to you can see the start of my work on that at the following URL: http://pompeypirates.final-memory.org/disks1.shtml

Time will show when I find the motivation to continue there. The shots are all ready but not the pages and the site is not db driven (and i don't plan to do so)

Hi Sunny,

Great job (and long). . I never was "really" interested by menus until now & as I needed to check some titles : I admit I prefer having a look of the menus like this than reading a "boring" list.

In the past I only had 3 or 4 menus by PP :( + I dl all of them times ago but haven't have seen them all ATM.

For my part I'm always on the EMPIRE page : all games are fixed to run under STeem & haven't finished the page too   .

Looks good. On my quest of archiving ST stuff, I found some PP disks that were released after 114. These were not numbered but are included in my archive under pseudo numbers 115 - 124.

I'd strongly think they are unofficial menus then as I remember chatting with the Alien and he said 114 was the last official Pompey Pirates menu ever.
Maybe one of the PP members active here can tell us more?

Yes this was my understanding. I think there was an announcement on the last menu (Lotus 3 perhaps?) that they may release some un-numbered menus in the future.

Good site ! By "nostalgia", I'm always seeking webpages about menus (contents, screenshots, details) : I also enjoyed your one  .

I'm sure PP047 was a 32 colour picture... which I'm guessing you needed to do some clever stuff for.

This might be why you are having problems grabbing it!

is it the 'war of the worlds' image ?

because, yes, it does use more thasn 16 colours - the palette changes half way down the screen.

easiest way to screenshot it would be print screen on a pc running an emilator :)

It's pointless to discuss that ... my copies were corrupt and wouldn't boot at all.
Modern emulators cope with palette changes with ease - mutlipel colors were *not* the problem back then.

ah, you should have said they don't boot :) I assumed you meant the games didn't work ...
