You can discus menu disks by all those classic ST hack & pack teams. If you have questions, requests or remarks about hackers, packers, screens or just menu disks in general, this is the place to be!

Best Menu Intro?

Post by bolda »

What do people think is the best intro for a CD/crack menu?

The best one I've come across is the intro to The Replicants crack of Last Ninja 3 - the music is amazing when played on an STe.

I can also think of one early LSD/Was(Not Was) menu featuring a 16-colour medium resolution screen which impressed me at the time (a bit boring to look at but quite a technical achievement!)

Apologies if this has been discussed in the past but I can't see any threads about it.

Cheers,

Andy

Well, R-Type for me by the Bladerunners. It was the first cracked game I 've seen and being used to originals I was amazed to see a little intro before the game! Unfortunately, I find this disk anymore and god, I really need this...

Some of the BBC and Medways disks were certainly quite amazing. And of course the last D-Bug disk! :)

I really loved the Automation one for Larry, the one with the 3D girl rotating. Andy The Arfling did some cool overscan ones, plus Fuzion always had decent menus!

Fuzion intro for No Buddies Land: good zoom effect, great soundtrack music. My favorite one!

My favorite intros:

- D-Bug 164 (the one with Obsession)
- all intros by V8 (I'm nostalgic each time I see them)
- Replicants intro for Barbarian II (the one with the ghosts)
- Impact CD 64 (it uses Crawdaddy tune!)
- most of the intros done by MSD/POV (ADR-UK, Pure Energy, POV, Serenade, ...)
- the intro by Quantum Man for TLS (the one with the cubes)
- some intros by ICS I forget

That list may be longer of course ;)
Cu soon,

The first intro's i saw and did impress me at the time was the MCA intro. David Withaker music from leatherneck i think, rasters, swirly and distoring logo.
Probably they weren't the best intro's ever, but it was the first thing i thought about reading this thread.
