I hope some active atarian gets this and not a collector.
I like watching the prices of falcons rise of ebay though, and feeling smug.

Blimey, it's gone up to £165 with just under 8 days left to run!

What do you guys think is a reasonable price for a Falcon?

Depending how much you want itAwol wrote:What do you guys think is a reasonable price for a Falcon?

Think that around 175 till 200 will be reasonable, so somewhere in te middle of the lowest and
highest. The one of 800 euro a few weeks ago was insane and price was staged.

Re: Atari Falcon found on ebay!
There was some crazy bidding recently and managed to find the one that ended for $850
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0560992981
Not sure if a stock Falcon is "the Holy Grail of vintage Atari computing" as surely that would be the ATW?
If a collector wants one then the price seemingly has no limit.....

Re: Atari Falcon found on ebay!
Jesus!...I wonder what reserve price he has set! I think the £200 offer he received at the start was actually generous beyond belief, but then again he was wise to refuse it in the current Falcon Ebay climate. Great news for sellers and grave news for buyers I suppose.

Re: Atari Falcon found on ebay!
I put it down to lack of supply of Falcons, they are pretty rare and the example here is in 'mint' condition
There are a huge number of ppl watching as well as page views, so the demand must be there, the reserve is not too far away.
For a piece of computing history I believe it's well worth it! I should also sell my Oric
even the Computer museum in California didn't have one

Re: Atari Falcon found on ebay!
Yea but if your gonna pay that much just cos its case is in mint condition more fool you (who knows what unseen problems the system beneath may or may not have).
It's not really a piece of computing history either, not yet anyway. I see it as more of an active hobbyist platform or a tool for creating or listening to music etc.
Nevertheless I hope the winner finds this forum and they will be welcomed enthusiastically to the falcon fold (if it's not their first falcon, in which case there probably already here).

Yep I second everything you have just said 030falcon030. My Falcons are a hobby for me too although I do have more serious music uses in mind for it; I have all the gear needed I think now. I think the Falcon will become historic in the not too distant future though.

Errrm....I could not fit everything into my 'signature space' on this forum; I have not even included my two Falcons or any of the hardware for those. Oh and I have not even included my new Hydra ethernet or HxC SD Floppy interface. Hmmm then there is the MIDEX+ I got recently, oh and............. OK I best stop before I go crazy or make everyone on here hate me!

I didn't even see this:
Postage: £150.00 Other courier or delivery serviceSee more services
Is it gonna be wrapped in real gold or something ??? I'm glad nobody won, because 330 and 150 = 480 for a almost stock Falcon.
Men, I own gold at the moment

Re: Atari Falcon found on ebay!
I have been on to ebay to have look at the Falcon. You know you could get a new A1200 and two QLs for that price!!!
Anyway I had a shock. There is a Sinclair Enterprise calculator going for over £176 with healthy bidding. It is a shock because mine is in just as good condition and a much better box. No its not for sale........
