This is great - nice one RGuk.
I see a few reconditioned Falcons and TTs for sale on the American sites for bigmoneys (the TTs aren't too bad tho), pity there aren't more places with them closer to home.

Is this place still in business? I've sent them emails about purchasing stuff and have heard nothing back.

Yes they are. I noticed it takes time for a reply as well. I usually call them, but then I live in the states.

Car boot sales are still my favourite for acquiring second hand 8 and 16 bit computers (that's like a yard sale in a field, for the Americans among you).
Typically you can pick up a complete setup of Atari ST stuff (minus monitor) for about £20 tops, much less if it's a bit grubby and is missing a mouse etc. People get them from house clearance sales and just chuck them in with the rest of the stuff, charge what they like but rarely anything above a tenner.
I've had a few ST's and Amiga's (sorry for the A word) this way, cleaned them up, played with them a bit and then sold them on as complete setups.

16/32 Systems recently bought Atari Workshops stock (or merged or something) so I guess AW are now closed.

i'm not surprised they're now closed if they charge £180 for an STE! 8O

Look closely at what I already added to the 16/32 Systems bit :o
This could be a good thing then assuming that 16/32 (who presently have very little hardware) take on all of the Atari Workshop's stock.... :)
Although I disagree that any of the above sites are overpriced, its usually brand new stock they are offering, not untested gadgets from your local car boot..
And the used hardware they offer is fully tested and usually re-conditioned but most of all it is guaranteed (but not by me ).

I think the biggest misconception here is the idea that E-Bay is some sort of accurate price guide, which it isn't.

just had another look

the £180 STE s are second hand

maybe i should start a new thread: who would pay £180 for an STE! 8O

doesn't say if they're boxed or anything

Ehhh talk about it here, after all its the sites listed here that are under scrutiny..
So, a 4 meg STE, from the sites listed above, costs between $390.00 and $450.00 which at the current exchange rate of about $1.99 to the pound brings the price to between £195.00 and £226.00
These were for NTSC "like new" re-conditioned 4 meg STEs, the site B & C computervisions gives a 90 day warranty on STEs, not sure about Best Electronics...

I agree it is a lot of money, but is it too much to ask?

I have E-Mailed both the stores that stock this computer asking if they are supplied in the original box with manual etc, seems only fair to get an accurate as possible comparison, I will post the exact details as soon as I get them.

Ok I have had replies from both Best Electronics and B & C Computervisions..
Basically, the STEs they sell don't come with a box...
Plus, Best Electronics have quoted between 75 and 99 US$ for postage to the UK....

So this debate is out the window for us UK folk really unless someone can actually find a UK store that stocks ST(E)s??
I cannot find any STs listed in either the Atari-Workshop or 16/32 systems :|

Tried inviting the guy who runs Keychange to the Jagfest as he was around the corner but never got a reply back off him.
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

Actually, I was wondering whether or not to ask Jens if he would do some brief descriptions of what is available (like the ones i have already done) but in German since the site is of little use to us non-Deutchers..

Or if it would be better to do a description in Engrish then could Jens or someone translate to English for me as I am not sure exactly what they have in stock 8O
Could be Lederhosen or Sauer Kraut for all I know :?
(Again I apologise in advance BTW).

Overpriced for us Germans, which will maybe means interesting prices for the rest of the world. ;)

You'll get a half year warranty there if I'm properly informed.
And sometimes nice machines come up there.

Peter Denk is selling on eBay as well.
I think his nick there is 'computerundtinte'.
Greetings, Jens
