There's snow joke about it either!
We here in the Dale had a slight sprinkling of it also yesterday/last night, it created the perfect seasonal atmosphere as I sat in the Pub for which I am now paying the price BIGTIME  :x I am not well at all.....

BTW Dbug/Grazey etc, how did you get from the house to the photo point without disturbing the snow?? did you jump? or did you wait all night till it had stopped snowing?
Either way, nice pic that one :)

My house is quite high up so I get good views to the south and west.

This is looking West(ish) in the general Direction of Rochdale, so those hills in the distance are the very self-same Pennines looking from the other side :D

Now *that* looks like a proper winter picture!

As soon as it snows in the UK, mass panic ensues down the south end of the country! In the North, it's just treated as "bugger .. gonna be late for work now!" :)

Whereabouts in Yorkshire is that Marl? :)

Keops, I like that pic of yours, must indeed be from a non-U.K. City as there is a bike there that has been chained up and not nicked long enough to get half buried in snow 8O unbelievable!

I think you meant to say "Northwest" Mike as they often get it quite bad in Yorkshire when it snows or rains, thankfully we have the Pennines to keep them and their weather out of our Utopia!

It's about

HERE

(so if your view is looking North, they're possibly the same hills - don't have a compass to check, but I think my view is roughly WSW)

What do you think of using Google Earth for showing the location of our homes? :-)

Don't know if many of you have it installed - I think it's a fun tool... :D

You could post "placemarks" here. They can be clicked just like normal links and will make Google Earth fly to your place and display your home location.

Just an idea...

The tears are welling in my eyes again, I need twenty big buckets to catch them in, twenty pretty girls to carry them down, twenty deep holes to bury them in.

I like the idea in principal, but it's a question of if people want the world to know where they are :?

Google Earth links are pretty specific.

The first one I took from the hills o'er Rochdale.
The 7 high-rise buildings in the centre are the "7 Sisters", residential flats, the historic Town Hall Clock tower can be sort of made out if you squint and look just to the left of the 7 Sisters on this greatly reduced image (the original being 2848 x 2136, 2.5 megs).
In the distance on the right can be seen Manchester City Centre, the tower peeping over the hill just left of the middle of the pic is the County Court Building of Oldham.

And the second one is from the same hill but zoomed in on Manchester.
In the foreground can be seen the bright lights of Rochdale Football Clubs's Spotland stadium!! :o
Salford City can also be seen to the right of Manchester City Centre.
