There were a few people who sent piccies in to Viz of themselves next to the sign in Moses Gate country park, but they printed something saying they were sick of getting themRetroGamerUK wrote: shpearg, I know the Bolton area quite well, where is this "knob end"? as I am most amused by small minded things like this and would like to get a photo of myself stood under a "knob end" sign if one exists...![]()
I have searched the routeplanners/streetmaps and cannot find anything called "knob end" in the U.K.

You have to walk down that unadopted road to get to the canal & park beyond.

When I watch these intros that often come with PC game/app craks by groups such as Deviance, Myth and so on, I wonder if any of the names mentioned in all the "credz" and "greetz" are aliases of hackers/crackers/packers from the old days...
Anyway, enough of me going off my own topic, Mike, nice pic of your house, but where's the cat? I hope you've not eaten it....
Why do you have 2 wheelie bins though? is one for DVD media packaging??
Keili, looks like you live in the Countryside then.. looks very peaceful.

Hmmm, reading this I always wondered who "The Un-Nameable One" was that (as I read from a source code of his) had a job as as a games programmer (or something like that).....xerud wrote:You could have a whole thread on famous st hackers and their numerous nicknames.RetroGamerUK wrote:Well, now I understand thanks to the kind help of Mr. S. If looking at the exif info in the picture you see that the one without snow is from april 2003 and with snow is february 2004... and that i took the pictures at same angle is just coincidence since i have only once used my camera out when there was snow as it says in the manual to never use the camera in temperature below 0 celsius.RetroGamerUK wrote:Looks mighty cold there Stephan JL, I hope that snow covered pic is not from today?.......
Actually, I estimate that the last pic was taken some time after the first one, perhaps 1 year+later?
But i think i have more with and without snow photos at same angle, maybe i could post more

Not the best view but the block of student appartments I'm living in. My appartment is not visible - other side of the building but on the left the lowest floor.
I took that photo yesterday (and weather is still that dull and foggy here).

A UK college wouldn't have anywhere near as many bikes .. we're anti-cyclist / public-transport over here. The car park would be full of boy racer Ford Escorts and Nissan Micra's driven by the girls.

I would not leave my Bike chained up outside any College / University in this Country, there are far too many thieves about...
Plus there are hardly any cycle lanes/routes over here, Germany on the other hand has vast pedestrianised City centre areas where private vehicles are not allowed, and a great network of cycle / bus routes.
In short, Germany does indeed have a far better and greener Transport strategy than this joke of a Country, all they seem to do over here is keep building/widening roads...

Well
Keep in mind, my university and its town are located in the middle of nowhere, in the Harz mountains with the next "city" being 20km away. 15000 ppl live here, about 3000 of those are students, next larger cities have around 30000 ppl. So don't expect such open bike lots in every german town. Beside when it gets snowy here (and that is due in the next two weeks) noone can ride a bike up here, even with car it gets troublesome. Yo u can sometimes see weird dudes trying anyway
