Yeah it's a totally cool site and it would be great if you had new additions for it every once in a while.

I'll contact him again. Maybe my email was just lost or something. Here goes...

Alright, I got ahold of Tony and he said I could give the package out. However, the file is quite large (40mb) and I need to have access to some fast hosting space. Any ideas guys?

Why not stick it on http://www.rapidshare.com

You don't have to sign up, just upload your file, get a link to it and post it here. 1mb+ download speeds for people with decent connections. Or would you prefer to host the files on a website?

I just need to get them up on the web so that the people who want some of the contents on their websites can have it.

I'm actually at work right now, and the files are at home, so I can't upload them yet. In fact, I can only upload them by Monday at the earliest because I don't work on weekends and I don't have a reliable connection at home. I only have a 56k on country lines that cuts out quite often. Uploading a 40mb file would take probably 7 hours if it didn't cut out first.

How about this free web host?
2GB webspace
100GB a month bandwidth
They don't put adverts on your web site
web name such as you.110mb.com

I can upload it to the STOS site if someone can get the file too me. I can provide temp FTP password if someone wants to FTP it to my site first.

Alright, here's the plan.

I will upload the file to MegaUpload, Rapidshare, or Yahoo! Briefcase (that seems like a good option to me) and then post a notice that I have done so in this thread. Then, people can download the file and put what they want from the archive on their sites.

Sounds good? I'll try to do this this week.

I may take you up on it, but my work PC has no good FTP software on it, nor should I really install any.

40MB isn't that much. I can upload it to my webspace. You only need the link than for other sites.

Ewww... Internet Explorer. I'd rather not touch that. I'm sure Firefox will have similar FTP features.

Well, it didn't happen last week, as I was too busy at work. This week should be much calmer, but there are network/internet issues today. Grrrrr... Anyway, keep watching this thread.

I uploaded the file to mihd.net today, however it didn't work out.

I started the upload, and a while later it was still going so I decided to take my lunch break. Before I left, my boss asked if he could use my computer to copy a DVD. I said sure. Of course, when I got back he told me he had crashed my PC and had to restart  .

So, I'll try again on monday. I'm very very sorry about the delays. This is the third attempt to upload it that didn't work for some reason or another. However, a split-file download on 4shared will probably be my best option.

Until then, sit tight. It's a great archive, and will be worth the wait!

I hope you gave your boss a good shouting at!

Seriously though, thanks for putting in the effort, I'm sure it'll be worth it. Might be worth looking into an upload/download manager, like free download manager? It can resume broken downloads & other nifty features, not sure if it'd work with these upload sites though?

I'm glad you're watching the thread Darklight. You're one of the people I'm doing this for specifically.

And no, I didn't shout at my boss. He'd wonder why I was using our bandwidth for something like that

I know I know, I wanted to give this out as a Christmas gift to the forums but I still can't find a file host that will accept me. Rapidshare, Megaupload, and 4shared won't let me verify my account.

Any other file hosts out there that will allow a 53MB file?

This collection is too good to waste!

I don't know about the others but with rapidshare you don't even have to sign up for anything in order to upload something and get a link to it.

I recently found a good one: http://www.mediamax.com 25gb space free and if you copy your uploaded stuff to the 'hosted' folder, you can share the links to your files. You do have to verify your email address, however when I signed up it said I needed to verify before logging in, The next thing I knew I was logged in and could upload stuff before I even checked my mail!

I'm trying rapidshare again right now and it's working so far. I'll keep everyone posted on this belated release.
