Battle Bowls

Post by kevcal; »

Hi,

One of the last games I heard about being made for the STe before I moved on was "Battle Bowls", I think by a French Company...?

From the screenshots I saw, it looked very like Puzzle Bobble.

Edit: In fact a litlle bit of searching found this:
Source: http://www.ataritimes.com/atari-st/features/news2.html

"Battle Bowls is based around the coin-op, Puzzle Bobble and features 100 levels and over 2 Mbytes of sound and graphics but at present it is only available in France."

Anyone have any idea if it was ever released??

Kev

Edit2: Ah, RG are doing a version by the looks of it - I did a search and it didn't come up the first time - found it via google!

I guess this means the 'original' never came to fruition?

you're right, Battle Bowls was never completed.
But RG + Sector One (and maybe Dune?) are still working on the game. It is renamed Fairytale adventures... of course no date is planed.

Just for the record, it's Fairy Land adventures.

Also, for the record, the people involved are me (ggn/KUA), Mr Pink/RG, SH3/RG, Edo/SCT1. DMA-SC/SCT1. FroST/SCT1 joined for a while but he gave up. Also, quite some gfx (the original) were made by Mic/Dune.

Message to Mr Pink (and to the rest of the team(: WAKE UP AND FINISH THE GAME! My code is rotting :)

George

Excellent news - looking forward to it! :D

Wish I had time to do some 68k stuff nowadays - everything I do now is C/C++ and I miss the challenge of trying to stretch the limits of the machine - all that clock counting I used to do... :?

Oh you're right! Sorry, I don't know where this mistake came from. Have corrected the fault on Atari Legend. Thanks ggn :)

Interesting, I didn't know you take part to the project. Great!
Do you think the game could be released over the next 6 months? Is there still a lot of work to do?
Thanks,

Brume.

He, he Battle Bowls. What a story. By the way i have a running pc (demo) version of this game, featuring 2 complete playable levels plus the bonus level (kind of space harrier look a like level). This version should be soon available on the Dune website (hopefully finished before this summer).

We also had a running Falcon version but i'm not sure where it is now (we still have to dig out our dusty floppys and hardrives). I've contacted reservoir dogs some months ago and provided them with the pc graphics. So, hopefully, a nice falcon version may also be on tracks.

Yes, a st version had been started at the early stages of the game development.

Concerning the new game i'm afraid i don't have the slightest idea of its current state. It may have been dropped (again), who knows ?
