Superb stuff and +2 to what every one said above, delighted Alan agreed to allow his car sprites to be used.
Re: New ATARI STe game coming soon: ANARCHO Ride
Believe it or not: Alan did not only allow his sprites to be used! He painted them brand new for the game! And there are more still up to come!
He is a pure Genius!
So this game will feature brand new Artwork from Alan!

Ohh wow. That's even better news. Congrats Thomas, looking forward to seeing the final game, will you be doing a limited run like you did with LazerBall?

Looks great. Nice music too.
Re: New ATARI STe game coming soon: ANARCHO Ride
I don't know If I will do a physical release again. After all it will be even more complicated to make. The Game needs 2 Floppy Disks even in its current state. It might be 3 on release. Hard to get the amount of 2DD Floppys today - if I only sell 15 Boxes I easily need 45 Floppys!Greyfox™ wrote:.... will you be doing a limited run like you did with LazerBall?
Have not made up my mind now - but very likely it will be a download only.
Re: New ATARI STe game coming soon: ANARCHO Ride
Wow, 3 disks, that's a lot of data for a racing game. Great.
From the teasing video, the game seems to be "achievements" oriented, cool idea.

Re: New ATARI STe game coming soon: ANARCHO Ride
Seems as pretty much addictive and good framerate (for this kind of game).
3 floppy release is not good idea by me too. For collectors maybe "special deluxe" release on SD or CF card, with optional UltraSatan

Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.

Click on a "Ride" - one that is marked with a heart (should be two rides at a fresh install). Here is a pre-beta Video:

Re: New ATARI STe game coming soon: ANARCHO Ride
While playing the game, I noticed a bug in file access. You're opening following files with wrong names:
ATOMDR.DAT.DAT
ATOMM.DAT.DAT
BVEYRONF.DAT.DAT
FERRARDR.DAT.DAT
FERRARIF.DAT.DAT
FERRARIR.DAT.DAT
SPYDER.DAT.DAT
SPYDERDR.DAT.DAT
VEYRON.DAT.DAT
VEYRONDR.DAT.DAT
It just happens to work with TOS because it clips the extra extension away. Everyone of these is opened twice in the game.

Re: New ATARI STe game coming soon: ANARCHO Ride
Wow! Great find! I have to search how this happens! How can you study the file access? Is there a tool for it? I need to find when a extra .DAT is added to the filename!
EDIT: Got it!
Thanks for raising the flag! How did you see the actual file access? Never knew this is possible... and as it worked it did not jump on me.
EDIT: Got it!

Nice game demo
I made a video recorded from a real STE:

Re: New ATARI STe game coming soon: ANARCHO Ride
Tried it on Falcon and in Steem. Framerate at 8 MHz is little low, but on Falcon is fine.
Some notes: I don't see need for install - you just unpack it to some DIR, and can run from there without problems.
I saw in some cases similar bad filenames in games. But TOS just cuts off what is after third character of extension, so it passed tests.
"How can you study the file access? Is there a tool for it? I need to find when a extra .DAT is added to the filename!"
With Debugger. Or just look in executable file with some HeX editor/viewer .

Re: New ATARI STe game coming soon: ANARCHO Ride
Hi!
About "setup": You are absolutely right: Drop everything into one folder will work fine. The setup does nothing else. I just added this for convenience if some need to copy it from real Floppys to Harddrive. Especially when it comes to Expansion packs: They hold some duplicate files - just to avoid frequent disk swapping. And this might be confusing. The expansion packs come with the "SETUP.PRG" as well -> and it will make sure that everything ends up in the right place.
But you are right: I might drop it from the "ZIP-Folder" version of the basic game. There it makes little sense.
Framerate: there are some framerate improvements possible if you like to ride faster (I guess you use an STe? Right?). Detailed list at http://www.hd-videofilm.com/anarcho/inf ... index.html
Turn off Music will give you some more frames. But setting the "STREET DETAILS" to "MEDIUM" or "LOW" gives you a real speed boost!
But hey! After all: All this is written in GFA BASIC
I am actually surprised that I got the framerate where it is now!
File access will be fixed in the next Version!
Have fun!
