I have also started to play F1GP, which I have started to like. I usually run the game in 32 MHz though, to get it to go more smoothly.[/quote]

I didn't really like F1GP until I got the DBug version and lost all the disk swapping! :) It's quite well put together and doesn't look very dated.

Well, I have only played it in Hatari for now. So there you can just emulate a second disk drive, where you don't need to disk swap. But on a real Atari I think I would prefer the DBug version you're referring to.

OK, then I still need to use two disks version of the game. Unless I upgrade the disk drive or I get a HxC floppy emulator, which I probably will at some point.

There are four games that spring to mind other than the ones mentioned here;

- Utopos
- Magicboy <--one of my favs!
- The Last Arcadian
- Tomtar
I am the master of cr*p signatures!
Atari 1040 (4mb) STe
Atari 520 STFM (with red LEDs and cooling fan)
Atari 520 STe - boxed after being saved from Freecycle. Not yet played with. ;-)

It looks as if it's available on the ICS ATARI ST Pirate Gold collection.

Starglider 1(the music/voice track.)
Goldrunner I/II & Eliminator (Some of the first music I liked in a video game, though Necromancer springs to mind.)
IK+ (For sheer fun and playability.)
Dungeon Master (first dungeon crawler, very impressive, the torch, the magic system, though Ultima IV on the 800XL was impressive too.)
Carrier Command (For not realising until alot later you could destroy the enemy carrier very quickly if you met it at a certain place, nice 3D graphics.)
Super Hang-on (For being an excellent conversion with a good sense of speed.)
Gauntlet II (For being a decent conversion after the dreadfully and painfully slow Gauntlet I.)

There are others, but I've forgotten. :)

Try this, I believe it is a full and clean copy of the game. If it isn't let me know, not had time to test it yet.

Sorry I kind of just assumed that collection was well known and linked all over the place already ;) I see it has been attached to a post now though.

The Hang Loose FTP has four different cracks apparently: http://homerudi.no-ip.org/~rudi/st/Hang ... gic%20Boy/

I assumed that asking for a link, he didn't know where to get hold of it. So I thought I'd save him some time since I pretty much had it to hand so to speak. :-)

@calimero Never heard of Tomtar 'ey?

Tomtar, the premise...

You are the Grim Reaper. The little Tomtar, once a friendly race are breeding like rabbits and are out of control. They start to take over the world. You search for a solution. That solution is an Uzi sub-machine gun. With the Uzi you blast the hell out of the Tomtar and their sympathisers and survive as long as possible.

It came on a late coverdisc from ST Format I believe. Not much to the game but the intro is good and very tongue in cheek humour. Easy to get into and fun for about 10/15 minutes I guess. :-)

I don't know (but bandit's real name isn't Rudi IIRC). I found a link there while searching for something else, openly indexed by Google. I'd suggest not abusing it if the owner doesn't show up .. :)

Never played "Tomtar", but for information it's swedish and I don't think there are a good translation for it. "Tomtar" are fairytail figures and I guess the closest translation are "gnomes". On christmas we have the "christmas tomte" who is the same as "santa claus" :D

I think had more been added to the gameplay it would have been held in higher regard. However, the intro made me laugh and because it was reasonably well put together, complete with the music, for a little game it impressed me. The gameplay has no depth and is very repetitive certainly.

Dungeon Master
We went crazy when me and friends met the 1st monster. And also next ones ;-)

Mercenary, Damocles, Mercenary III
Less people liked the games, but I got hooked by Mercenary's speed, shooting everything, when I realised it was actually an adventure game! Damocles and Mercenary III for the size of the universe, and the fun in the stories (even if there's a "alone in the world" feeling).
I'm still updating the Mercenary Site today.

Sundog
For the detail of everything - repair your ship to be strong against pirates, walk in the street and make strange/dansgerous encounters, go sit in a bar with a beer to meet new people...

Microprose F1GP
So funny in muliplayer, it got me hooked at F1 (games and sport) for about 8 years!

Hunter
Loved all the possible vehicles, from bike to helicopter.

For me:

Wings of Death, Lethal Excess, Obsession, Stardust, Enchanted Land (Shows off sync-scrolling to it's fullest and apart from what someone posted above it does feature horizontal smooth scrolling, just not continuously).

There's probably more I could add (and probably will) but it's rather late and I'm real tired (Got attacked by the UKash virus last night (first time I'd come across it) nearlly crapping myself as I thought I was in serious trouble with the police and spent all day getting my PC up and running again  ).
So let it be written, So let it be done. I'm sent here by the chosen one.
