Guardians of the PaST website launched!
The Guardians project team our proud to announce the launch of the Guardians of the PaST website http://www.guardiansofthepast.co.uk. It's been a long time coming and its future may not be certain, but at last everyone can see the result of over 2 years work by the Guardians team.
The project is not dead so please visit reguralrly to see new software entries and features added to the site!
We made this announcement last week but it was buried in another thread so we thought a more visible and official one was called for.

An excellent addition to on-line Atari ST information, and an invaluable service to fans such as myself. However, this part worries me still:
How is it uncertain? How can we help to keep it alive?Goldrunner wrote: its future may not be certain

Well if you are going to do something right.....do it like this! I'm really enjoying this new site and it is giving me a few ideas in what to install and play, once I get my STe and UltraSatan up and running later this year.
Congratulations on an excellent site.

Re: Guardians of the PaST website launched!
Yes, but we want to have detailed content as we have done so far, this obviously takes a lot time. The current count of 233 may seem small but but when you look at the software entries you realise how time consuming it must be. I remember me and X3peri_MENTaL taking 2 weeks on Gods alone, then another 2 weeks for each of the Rick Dangerous games. Since we are a preservation site we track down as much information as possible on each piece of software, we then scan adverts, reviews, and software packaging to an agreed standards. We then take numerous screenshots in all screen sizes the software supports, for example, if you look at The Secret of Monkey Island entry you will find 88 lowres and hires screenshots.lotek_style wrote:Looks pretty nice... We believe the the preservation project will be much richer if we gather as much information as possible on each piece of software. We also try make sure the information is accurate whith each team member cross checking the work of others. We also do not enter anything that is rumour based with no back up of collabrating evidence.
We could if we wished quickly populate the database with entries with few details, but this would be going against our primary mission since entries will be forgotten or neglected as the database gets bigger, It is better to do it as we go!
