This is *hard* though.

I mean consider, I have a CT60 Falcon, 40mhz 68030 STacy, Mega ST4 with an Adspeed,
and they all run different setups (of course).

So which should I choose for this survey? Perhaps you could add an option that says:

For machine #1
for machine #2
for machine #3

Or maybe subheadings like FireBee, Clones, Falcon ,TT, Mega STe/ST, stock ST,
etc,... Just a thought anyway.

Well, I have a few different machines with different setups, but for my primary machine that I use the most, its TOS all the way for maximum compatibility and ease of tinkering.

I checked my Falcon 030 combination of FreeMint/XaAES and Teradesk. However a plain STE desktop setup with tOS2.06 is what I use as often on Hatari on my STE.
So it is 50:50, depending which machine I target.

I spend more times in games than on desktop but my primary OS is not TOS but rather MiNT/MyAES.

It is not so easy, actually it depend what I do. When do some DTP or programming I use MiNT/N.AES with Thing desktop on TT or Falcon, but for gaming and demo watching I go for plane TOS

I still a magic/jinnee user (magicmac and magicpc too)
I have a naes setup on one F030 but magic still preferred

for xaes/myaes/mint for the moment they still on aranym

I basically just boot TOS when reinstalling FreeMiNT/XaAES/EasyMiNT, or when fixing something in my auto folder. Apart from that, it's 100% FreeMiNT/XaAES/EasyMiNT and Thing. I love this setup, since it allows me to use proper unix tools while and still write code "the Atari way".

I'd like to use AlanH:s Gentoo stuff, but so far I haven't installed it. SpareMiNT feels a bit like a patchwork nowadays.

It's just a different distro, and I guess it could be a bit more up to date and less of a patchwork compared to Sparemint.

I doubt many people use it yet, but I think it could be a good idea to do so Remains to be seen though, obviously.

Usually I have menu off. Only toswin+XaAES+stuff.

Gentoo/FreeMiNT is much more up to date than EasyMiNT.

I doubt many people use it yet,

I daresay it's the only viable solution on the FireBee. It's easy enough to integrate with the official FreeMiNT setup. But there's still a lot of things missing. And no ColdFire builds yet.

Almost: FreeMiNT/XaAES + either TeraDesk or Thing 1.27/1.29 (or no desktop at all, like Helmut ).

Why not put "other" to both OS and desktop? As long as it has a small rating, it should be ok.

But I did not vote, because I can not select my combination.
Is it possible to select more than one OS/desktop? You'd need fractions (1/2, 1/4 point ..) to get a representative result in this case.

but we do not have it... because I state: primary.

another problem is that there is only 10 "slots" and I used them all. Only I can change "MagiCDesk" - should it be "other"?

It would be better I think. There are quite a few other desktops to chose: Ease, NeoDesk, No|Desk (not sure about the spelling), Gemini...
