PHERP just throws the file at the lpd server. It does not do any conversion what so ever. So you need to output the file being thrown to a format that the printer will understand. Most of the time, NVDI can do HP PCL format.

Sorry for off topic but I wanted to be clear.

Kind of sad to see silence on this awesome looking desktop.

I must admit, this zDesk is one thing that stimulated me to finally make the plunge and buy my Firebee after sitting on the fence for so long.

I really think the zDesk will become the Bees Knees once it comes but I sure hope it does this year and has not been halted.

Hope we get new news soon.

Anyone else still dreaming about zDesk for Atari?

Would be super cool to have this on my Firebee.

I see the project on AtariForge hasn't moved in 3 years now. So sad for something that showed great promise:

Well ... Zorro was working on it ... not so long ago. The last youtube video is from 01-06-2013: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlwWzq2pmUI

I would also like to see it released as it looks really great!

I think Olivier has the sources of zDesk. I am not sure but as I remember he didnt like the way zDesk is coded so he decided rather to make his own desktop "Mdesk". If he will incorporate things from zDesk into his application then great. But for now nothing like that cant be seen.

Hello some words that could be not well understand. Zdesk is very well write, this is very beautifull piece of code even I think I think for some point AES could be a little bit better use but it's only personal point of view. I have Zview code public version with a small patch I think made by Zorro. I have try to do some change to work correctly under MyAES, but I have no more, Zorro said me wait new version you will modify it to fix MyAES issues but no more news since as you. So I have prefer try a small desktop name Mdesk to test new AES feature (TC icon) but I not work a lot on it because I take too much time on MyAES and SDL enhancement under AES.

It is include with MyAES 0.96 but far not finished and not guaranted! it is for the moment only here if no desktop is correctly set (it's better than crash ;-) )

Is it all over for zDesk? Are we ever going to see it released to the public?

Any news? :)

Zorro is no longer involved in the Atari community but since the sources of all his programs are freely available anyone can pick up where he left off and continue his work.

Is somebody (Olivier) still working on mDesk? Or perhaps some of us downloaded the source code from ZDesk, and are trying to get it back on track again?

Both look awesome!!

What about Teradesk/Thing/Magxdesk? All are available for free, in source and binary form. Why bother with just another desktop?

Edit: beside that, its just a matter of grabbing the sourcecode, and a cross-compiler. Compiles out-of-the-box.

Yeah, it is in a pretty good shape but unfortunately, it doesn't contain all the changes presented in Zorro's last videos. What is a shame because many of them very superior to what any other desktop offers.

Yes, its a version from ~2011, while Zorro last worked on it in ~2014. If i didn't miss something, it is lacking a lots of things. I wasn't even able to start an application ;) So that seems to be mostly unfinished work.
