Is there any “technical” talk about bits, speed and mips :) in thread?

All that tech talk mumbo jumbo quickly becomes irrelevant once you begin actually implementing graphics/sounds/etc. and only then will you see how the performance is.

+1 :)

Is there any blog to recommend with first hand impression while implementing the stuff? :)

Swapd0's Blog may be the closest you'll get and he's actively still doing stuff for the Jag.

I'm working on a Jag demo now but am almost done, though I should give a little write up I suppose but feel the demo will do a better job than trying to put it into words.

Ha, brings up the point, would be cool to have a demo scene for the Jag. I mean some of the demo coders are amazing at finding secrets of the hardware and getting weird things to work. Not that any of that tends to help in making games.

Theres always Raptor Basic/API, if you dont feel like learning the Jaguar system fully and want to make games/demos.

Highly recommended! - snag it here: https://www.reboot-games.com/rebootnews/rb/

My CRT recording looks bad but this is one of my early demos with it (you can download the ROM and run it on a skunk from the description link as well): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRnRFtvBZmg

That was you?

Well, congrats. I remember seeing that and thinking it was one of the best Jag demos so far! Good job!

Thanks, appreciate the kind words. :)

The one I'm working on now is far more advanced having a few years of experience with it all. Technically it's done but since I had some space left, have been adding more but will share it here once it's ready.

Looking forwards to it.

Will it be usable from an SD card on RetroHQ/Saints Jag cart?

Yeah, both SD and Skunk will work just fine and is kind of required since it's a 6MB ROM.

For those who may not frequent the other forums or the darkside of Facebook, please see below my latest Atari Jaguar Demo for your Skunkboard or JagGD/SD: "A 64-Bit Interactive Multimedia System Demo" :)

Now that more JagGD carts are beginning to ship, it's probably a good time to release another (short) demo! Ideally, it should only be played on real hardware and preferably on a CRT, if available.

ABOUT THE DEMO:
Under the surface, it's really just multiple test beds that I created to learn from and experiment with over the years, modified for release so that you can see the translation of a few ideas fully implemented into something that works in simple form. The game I'm currently working on (Zilch) will implement some features from this demo and is expected to be released next year shortly after the first one (Simone). I created this demo using rB+ (and if you've ever been curious about programming for the Jaguar, rB+ is where it's at!)
dem64.jpg
Special thanks to Andrew "MasterCast TV" and Lina Louise for not only doing the character voice-overs but also allowing me to transform their physical presence into the digitized Jaguar world. It all worked out so well for this demo and am pleased with the outcome as a result! Also, thanks to CyranoJ for some last minute assistance with an issue I was having and a shout out to everyone involved in making rB+ a possibility!

WARNING:
This demo is rated M for Mature due to language. Those sensitive to curse words and mature content in general, please steer clear from this demo, as it's not intended for you. There will be better things for you to see in the future that will be far nicer or friendlier in that regard, Zilch and Simone specifically.

To load on Skunkboard uing JCP:

At the command prompt, type in:

jcp -f -6 64bitdemo.rom

If the demo doesn't load shortly after it flashes, power cycle the Jaguar then press and hold A and UP simultaneously to manually launch the demo in 6MB mode.

Any issues or questions aside, please feel free to PM me directly.

You can download the demo from here: https://ufile.io/j8pom43t or AtariAge: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/31497 ... kunkboard/
