DVD project!

Post by lotek_style »

Hello.

In the deepness of my mind is the idea of producing a
Fading Twilight DVD edition... including ALL IN 1.
It's just an idea at the moment. What do you think
about it?

Same here 8)

Downloading such a huge project might proof to be a little nightmare. Or will it be a mail order project.

Hi.

Yes I think so. The problem then is that it wont be for free...
making DVD's nowadays is still too expensive... maybe in
the future.. well like I said it's just an idea at the moment.

Couldnt you just download them all, then burn them to a DVD for yourself??

For downloading reasons, I would stick with a 650Mb ISO 8O
Atari STE, Mega STE, Atari STFM, UltraSatan, SatanDisk, Commodore 64, BBC Micro Model B, Playstation 1, Playstation 4, XBox 360, Amiga 600, Amiga 1200, Nintendo DS, Super Nintendo Classic Mini, Sony PSP and Super Nintendo.

Or we can do like the various MAME people do and sort out volunteers who don't mind burning the odd DVD for the cost of a blank and return postage.

That's how I used to send out Atari ST CDs back in 97/98 to everyone ..

I, for one, would gladly volunteer. Even host the ISO on eMule as well.

All that music and on a single DVD .. yum yum yum

one problem atm is that the collection is TOO big to put on
a usual 4,7GB DVD ... so I have to wait until dual layer dvd
writers are affordable for me ;) also... the collection is NOT
finished yet.. im working on CD 9 and 10 .. .and I dont want
DVD's spreaded with incomplete collections before...

So 2 DVDs .. not a problem. Blank DVDs are 38p each in bulk packs of 25 for me and a whole load of other people with access to computer shows and/or http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk

End size of project is no problem to me .. MAME is approximately 30Gig almost ;-)

Jeez .. erm .. no idea where you'd make the compromises in order to do this?

That's one tall order ...

Lotek Style,

I am wondering if you have any of my .mods in your collection... In 1989-1990 I was part of a demo group on the Amiga called "The Deviants" and we released a couple of music disks (my copies are long since corrupted), can't remember what they were called. Me (mr.man) and a guy called Spyder produced all the music for the disks, about 20ish tunes altogether. In the 90's the group kind of split up, Spyder moved to the USA and we lost touch and MD (the coder) gave up coz of work commitments and we also lost touch. In the 90's there was a famous group on the Amiga Scene called Andromeda, and they had a guy called mr.man too, who bacame very well known, but I was mr.man first and so as the Andromeda guy is no longer active as far as I can tell I am reclaiming my handle back and also trying to embrace the Atari Scene (I have owned an ST and an Amiga since 1988 and like both machines but was mainly involved in the Amiga Scene in the early days) Anyway, if my mods are lost in the midst of time, maybe I could compose some new tracks for your DVD, either PT format (preferable for me) or (and I'm just starting to get to grips with it) SSD. Please let me know either way as I'm just getting back into composing after many years and need some sort of outlet be it a demo group or music compilation disks.

Regards,
mr.man

Hey Mr. man :)

Guess who I thought first of... I really thougt you might be Mr. Man from Andromeda... I remember a few mods from him... well I never had
any Amiga and so I dont have any mod-disks from Amiga... but
you can check the "amiga version of fading twilight" ;)))

They call it AMP (Amiga Music Preservation) .. and they have about
25 CD-ROMS full of amiga/pc mods!!!

The stuff from the first 18 (or so) cds is available for download:

http://amp.dascene.net/

maybe your stuff is on there too....

If you want to send me new or old stuff from yours so feel free to do so :)

well... over 2 years after this thread was started... I finally own
a dual-layer dvd writer ;) So ... you will surely see the whole
fading twilight archive on a single disc someday... but dont expect
it too soon :)

Not at the current prices .. almost £3 for one disc !! Normal single-layer discs are now approx 20p (or less) - but I get the printable ones so pay a few pennies more per disc.

A DVD edition could be nice. A few 4.7gb discs on a multidisc box or various double disc boxes could be nice.

Am I the only that thinks a TOSEC-like database could be great for mods a chiptunes? Since SIDs, console chiptunes and computer ones.

A Database would be pretty cool... but that means even more work... try to motivate me :P
The dual layer DVD is already in progress but it might still take a while as I am not
really motivated these days.

Just to keep you updated... the dual layer DVD will be released later on this year... hopefully with a new cool intro... I definitely want to close that period of my life. The database thing would be great but I am far from motivated to work on that.

Well that's good news. The Fading Twilight collections always have amazing hidden gems (at least, stuff I've never found before).
