magic synth

Post by gwEm »

i put this in the DHS forum, but probably its also useful here. so anyway, some hints about using tao's great editor 'magic synth':

--------------------------------------------

i dont want to set myself up as a magic synth expert, because clearly i am very much a beginner ;) but perhaps these points will help guys get used to the slightly weird handling:

* songs are formed from 6 (yes 6, magic synth multiplexed 6 tracks down to 3 YM channels) 'sequences' of 'patterns'. these sequences are transposed with a transpose column.

* the instrument editor is formed from columns of volume, special effect, arpeggio and vibrato

* escape toggles help screen

*f keys select tracker column and cut/paste

with this info i'm sure you can look at some of taos example songs and work things out.
