New Ace Tracker 2 tune "Buzzer"

Post by Skuggemannen »

I just uploaded my new track Buzzer, made for Solskogen 2020 using Ace Tracker 2.
https://youtu.be/uDgACVn859Y

Ace Tracker is just amazing! Thanks to Thomas Bergström of New Beat for making this software. Highly appreciated.

Buzzer was made in 44.1khz. Perhaps that was a bit much but I like the idea of my old Falcon working at CD quality for some reason. During making of this track the CPU reached it's limits often, and 44.1khz did certainly not help in that regard.

But the sounds of this thing!.. I got hold of Ace Midi recently also, made on the same Ace sound engine. So the Falcon can now join my regular Cubase setup as a sound module with both MaxYMiser and Ace Midi, still going strong after 27 years.

Nice song, reminds me of the Tetris music :) By the way, if you get a bus overclocker for your Falcon it will do 44.1khz effortlessly.

Thanks, I'll send you a pm with the file. I'm using an echo effect that needs to be in time with the beat. I haven't looked much into it, but it looks like the master setings is not saved with the tune, som I'm not sure if it will play as it should.

Great! Thanks! I'll create a zip file where I add the mp3 file and the jpg file from the archive found at demozoo. I'll repack the files with only 8.3 files to be Atari file system friendly as well. Hope that's OK!

Wow! This is a great song! Thanks for sharing a file! - it reminds me on AmberStar songs :)

So this is 100% Falcon synthesis, no samples at all?

Great track, just downloaded.
Are there other Ace trackers about? I saw the ones on the newbeat.atari.org are there any more?
How do you make an MP3 of an Ace Tracker song? Does it have MP3 export functionality or do you record it and sample it?
The MP3 quality sounds amazing!

Falcon doesn't support 44.1KHz or 48KHz unless using an external clock so would have to resample? Maybe that was a contributing factor to the CPU load?

Yes but if he made it on his Falcon, as he says at 44.1Khz, then surely he must have an external clock or spdif out. Ace tracker only gives you the 44.1Khz option if the clock is available.

To export the track to mp3 I used my Soundpool Spdif: http://atari.soundpool.de/spdif_ie.htm over to my DAW PC. As can also be seen on top of the Falcon in the beginning of the video on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDgACVn859Y&t=3s
While making the tune I used Ace Tracker with nothing else and the sound from the mini jack out to some studio monitors. Selecting 44.1khz is absolutely an option, also 48 and 50 without anything connected.

Yeah, the Soundpool spdif supplies the 44.1Khz clock :)

You are right. Since my Soundpool is always connected, I haven’t given it any thought before, but the 44.1 option is not available when I disconnect it.
I also see now that I got the spdif from @joska through this forum in 2015 so thanks again for that
