Looking for Jochen Hippel.

Post by accxess »

Hi!

I am trying to get into contact with Jochen Hippel. I have tried his facebook page but no answer.. I want to ask him on behalf of an orchestra that wants to play a couple of his tunes along with other game music, kind of like C64 orchestra did.. I am afraid no money will be made om this project, it is alive with the help from sponsors and cultural grants..
Thanks!

Dear Jochen is on Facebook?

An orchestral arrangement of his music is a great idea and long overdue.

At least I think he is on facebook or I have been writing the wrong guy :? Do a search for "Jochen Hippel" and you will find an "Andreas Jochen Hippel" that looks very much like him. :)

That's the same one. Try going via Richard Karsmakers?

He's on here as Cronos but is an infrequent visitor. He's on Facebook and does use that regularly.

I've not seen Jochen post on Facebook for a while but that is him. If you need to contact him I've got his full details (snail mail etc.) just send me a PM.

Cronos will help you. He's active on Facebook and he has his http://stnews.com website.

Jochen Hippel (Mad Max) and Stefan Kimmlingen (Tyrem / The Respectables) are running an online business:

Here are the details I found online:

Sellfix GmbH
Paulinstraße 38
54292 Trier
Tel: +49 651 / 27200
Fax: +49 651 / 27212

Homepage
Email: service@sellfix.de

If you'd like to get Jochens private contact details, I'd suggest to contact Jan Zottman (the producer of the Immortal II-IV remix CDs) via jan[at]zottmann.com. He was in contact with Jochen on a regular basis during the Immortal projects.

Please come back to this matter when more details are available. It would be great if an orchestar would perform some of Jochen's songs.

BTW, thanks for your steady production of Hippel remixes  .

While ACC:Xess ist still editing the videos of last years datorspels konsert, orchestral renditions of Amberstar and World of Warcraft were released on Soundcloud.

It's a pity that ACC:Xess will release the videos on YouTube - a nice DVD video would be much nicer.

This is really amazing!!! I never imagine that I will see a real orchestral performing music from AmberStar!!

When video will be available?

Hi!

I hope I will be able to release some tunes on youtube this weekend. We have had a lot of trouble gathering the video material as the media-school that filmed the concert lost a Hardrdive  So there is no video for the whole first part except some from my crappy camera.. So I will have to do something creative like showing screenshots of the games, demos etc. A DVD is a very good idea, but hosting might be a problem as DVD uses mpeg2 and tends create very large files, but I will come up with something :) Anyway a DVD showing the concert from start to end is not possible since we lack the material, but a nice DVD with a menu system where you can select different tunes would be possible.

Btw. If there is interest in an audio version of the whole concert I can make one big MP3 file for you. As you probably know we played music from not only atari games but games like Wow. and Starwars... :)

Most definitely.

I post all your videos (as and when YouTube says you've released one) in the Atari ST Demoscene group on Facebook. Your work is appreciated in there too :)

I would also like to have MP3...

can you tell us more about this "project":
who start it, who arrange old tunes for orchestra, who perform it, how often...? :)

Re: Looking for Jochen Hippel.

The project started about 2 years ago when my friend Linnea complained that the local orchestra was a bit bored with playing "classical" music. So I said why don't you play old computer tunes. She knew nothing about chip music so we met up at my place and spent an evening listening to chip music, and she was very impressed. So we went to the orchestra with some of my remixes and asked if they were willing to play something like that. They responded that they indeed wanted to play computer game music. We showed them a bit of the work of C64 Orchestra and they were hooked. But since the C64 tunes have been done before, as well as a lot of Nintendo and the fact that I love Atari chip music we decided to go for Atari and especially Jochen Hippel. So Linnea started making arrangements based on my remixes. We then decided to take it one step further and incorporate me on stage playing synth and drum machines. Then we wanted a bit of contrast so we also decided to play very modern game music, like World of Warcraft, Starwars, Pirates of the caribbean. Arrangements for those tunes were already available, on those modern tunes I did not play anything, I just controlled the video effects.
