If you can point me to a image of the Atari ST Explorer Pack version or a nice clean crack (clean=no cracker screens) of that then I maybe able to knock you up a +2 trainer (energy&lives)

i found this comment when i looked around on the net...
*** Ranarama on the Atari ST (it was on the C64, too).
I got to the final level where the frog has to jump from section to section, but the level seemed to be broken- bits of the map wouldn't show up; when I defeated the last magician the game kinda...bombed.
All that work! No saves to go back to, either. I *think* I tried this again a couple years ago with savestates and had the same result! Not sure maybe I'll try again... ***

someone post something, i'm bored

Thanks for the image, here's the trainer as promised.
Mount the STX explorer file in drive B
Mount the ST with the trainer in the auto folder in drive A and reboot.
There seems to be one slight problem in that the title screen doesn't appear at the start of the game (bizarre!), but the cheats should work fine (well I couldn't die with energy cheat on).
Updated...seems I upped a blank image, fixing now. gimme a minute

Ok fixed the problem with the title screen not displaying...I'm guessing it was something to do with being loaded from Drive B.
Anyway new instructions
Backup the STX file (we will change it - naughty I know)
Mount the STX file in Drive A
Copy the trainer.prg to drive A either the root or the auto folder, then just click on the trainer.prg or reset and voila!

That was very fast work, I notice your menu says for GamebaseST so I've put the files on one disk to make it easier for the project, thanks for the trainer
now if only I could remember how to play it.

I can't remember if it was protected, think I just had a Fcopy/Procopy backup of it so if it was protected I'd imagine it was a fairly weak protection as I used the blank space on the floppy for another game without any problems.
Out of interest has anybody got STXs of the Summer Pack & Power Pack games to hand?

Phew - well, I did it! Used the trainer and finished the game at long last.
It doesn't crash when you get to the last level and kill the last bad guy - it just tots up your score (mine was about 1,500,000 by this point), and sends you to a different dungeon! Instead of "Prepare to enter the dungeon of magic minions", you get "prepare to enter the dungeon of Belos the Black".
Your score stays with you, but sadly all the badass runes and spells you've picked up disappear - and you're back on the top level of the dungeon again. The layout looked the same but there were probably twice as many enemies as normal.
I consider that the game finished, since it took me 3 solid hours of play to work my way through - and I couldn't be bothered to go through the whole thing again - what if it does that again and sends you to a third dungeon?! It would be fine if you could save, but you can't and my hands hurt!!
However, I'd sincerely like to thankyou guys for making tonight possible - I played further than ever before and my seven year old self would be very pleased! We spent hours on the game as a kid - it was the first one I had with our atari - so thankyou for letting me finally win! It was 20 years in the making but I can finally put it to rest!!!
Cheers again,
Kazza xxx

Probably easier to just load the program or data files into a hex editor and search for those phrases ..
Text from the game:
The Magic Minions
Belos The Black
The Dark League
The Coven of Darych
The Fey
The Initiates of Doom
The Carrion
The Last Necromancer
So I guess you got 3 more dungeons to go! Good luck!

Re: Ranarama
Having problems getting the Trainer to run on STeem, as it's a .PRG file and not an .ST file.

Re: Ranarama
An .St file is an image of an Atari St disk.
A .prg file is an executable Atari St file, which for example, could be stored INSIDE the .ST disk image. You need to run the .prg from the Atari desktop, within steem. Mount a folder as a hard drive in steem and place the prg there

Re: Ranarama
I've just dumped ST Action's Cheat Disk #1 that I found in my collection which contains a cheat poke for Ranarama from back in '89. I've attached the files and the disk's README file to this post and am in the process of finding out how to submit the complete disk image to Atari Mania where they have a page for it. I will make a seperate thread here once I've done that incidentally. No idea at all if this will be of any interest to anyone for a thread that's 12 years old now!
