STE vs Falcon
It struck me the other day that my falcon spends all of its time sat in the cupboard while the STE tends to get used for anything ST specific. Seeing as I do very little thats actaully Falcon specific it seems a bit of a waste.
Am thinking about ditching all of my STE, STFM hardware and just using the Falcon for everything, including games and running stuff like Spectre GCR for a laugh. Am I likely to run into any barriers? The few ST games I tried on the Falcon worked fine the last time it was out.
Anyone else use their falcon for pretty much everything Atari related these days?
Oh - also - is the Falcon cart port fully compatible with the ST cart port - am not likely to zap anything am I?

Since I am STless I pretty much use and used to use the falcon for anything atari related.
I guess that in the game department you should stick with the ste since the falcon doesn't like most games and especially most menus. The vectronix cracks seem to work better, working st demos are only the exception and for the apps anything cleanly written will work. I don't know about the mac emulator or cartridge compatibility but I think they are not fullly compatible since paskuds interface won't work with a falcon.
There is a games compatibility list in the falcon games subforum that you can check for games that work.
The falcon was my main machine till the year 2000 - 2001 and I can honestly say that the only thing I kind of missed were the cool games on the other platforms. Apart from that I feel that the working st games played better on the falcon. Shinobi for example was more playable on the falcon than on the st (ofcourse that is an experience from steem).
I hope I helped

Spectre don't run on F030 sorry.
stf/e games you can run some of them with a emulator like backward or ste2falcon.

Actually, I find I use my TT more than the Falc, but that might change when I get my CT60 installed, but a the moment it's the TT all the way for me. Never underestimate the lure of simple things, fast, good keyboard and case design, clear display... an a really fast SCSI 3'5" hard disk...
TT030, 10mb/16mb, 3.5" SCSI multi-card reader (2gb CF/512mb SD), Matrix TC1006 gfx card, EtherNEC, Epson GT scanner, VanillaMint | 1040STe, 4mb, TOS 1.62, MegaFile 60, SM125 | Lynx II | 800XL, 64k, 1050 disk drive, XC12 tape deck, MicroLink parallel adapter

TT is a very nice machine but for "real work", for games and demo stf/e/f030 are better
(most due to tt lack of blitter)
