Re: TOS
Not that i know of. At least not official versions. The only TOS that could be booted from diskette was an early version of TOS 1.00.
There is a program and diskette version of Emutos of course.

Re: TOS
Not entirely true, ST Computer magazine had German TOS 1.04 on disk as a "Sonderdisk" available.

As an unrelated side note: There is a German language Atari forum at https://forum.atari-home.de/index.php
Re: TOS
There was an official release of TOS 1.04 on disk. It came with some versions of the Developer Kit. I probably still have the original disk shipped by Atari.

Re: TOS
What machines was it designed for?
Re: TOS
Do you mean TOS 1.04 on disk? Well, for any ST machine that had an older TOS, mainly for developers. That was when the new 1.04 ROM chips weren't yet widely available.

Re: TOS
Yes! OK. I was wondering if you could boot it on only the TOS machines that had the skeleton boot roms, or if it'd boot on the proper 1.0 and 1.2 TOS rom machines (at the cost of Ram, obviously) Were there TOS 1.2 dev boot disks? Can I use those to downgrade my TOS 1.4 machine, to 1.2?
Is there a list of all these actual TOS versions, somewhere.
I mean, like a proper verified list, rather than a TOSEC "lets just throw in anything we found on the internet" style list.

Re: TOS
Why not use EmuTOS: https://emutos.sourceforge.io/
It provides PRG versions in addition to ROM images.

Re: TOS
I can imagine that TOS 1.04 got this special treatment - for developers. It adds some new APIs (e.g., an extended file selector box) and it surely was in Atari's interest to enable developers to quickly add those APIs to their software; even before releasing the ROM version.
Re: TOS
TOS 1.06 and TOS 1.62 only work on STE. Does not make sense to try it on other machines, even on Mega-STE or later.

Re: TOS
On my STFM back then I disk loaded TOS 1,04 as it was better than TOS 1,02 for HDD access.
It booted from A: and then reboot it self and transferred to the C: drive automatically.
IIRC, there was a program in the floppy AUTO to do this.

Re: TOS
Found it. It is on Atarimania
http://www.atarimania.com/utility-atari ... 34337.html
The CAUTO program runs the AUTO on the HDD instead of the floppy making it looks like booting from the HDD
It works for any other HDD drivers.
Sorry for being OT.

Re: TOS
What about booting from the ROM cartridge? Surely they must be easy to produce now?
Falcon with CT60 in rack mountable case. Two STFMs, one upgraded lots. My original STE from when I was a teen with Switchable TOS, 1.44Mb drive, 4MB RAM, Supra Hard Drive and very very yellow case. Mega STE with (currently none working) Crazy Dots 2. Atari 2600 and a Jag. And a mountain of commercial software and lots of hardware addons.
Re: TOS
I've used this to boot MultiTos on the Falcon. Played with a few other images, nice tool
