TOS 2.08 Patch (STBook)

Post by Mr.JT »

Hi

Not sure if this is exactly the right place for this...

Trying to get STBook up and running again. Need to create a new boot Compact Flash. I vaguely remember it had some specific patch for the STBook / TOS 2.08 in the auto folder when it used to work, but I have no recollection of what it was, and can't seem to find anything definitive on google or in this forum...

Does anyone know what patch / program in there? Vaguely remember something about bypassing some checksums or something...?

Thanks

JT

Never heard about sth. like that. But if the prg. isn't on one of the two system disks then I'd say it's not required.

ST Book has not a TOS 2.08, it is a spezial version from TOS 2.06

Thanks - I think that's different to what I had before? What does this do? (sorry my German isn't very good!)

Use Google Translator to read the *.FIL File ...

Nothing important about the patches! There are no need for patches.

TOSPatch applies unofficial, third-party patches to TOS. It's not required to get your ST book running!

It identifies itself as 2.06 (in the ROM header), but is quite different from the version of STEs
That is only useful to patch the ROM itself (which you then of course have to get into the machine somehow), nothing you just run from the AUTO-folder.

I don't think that you need anything to get the machine booting. Only things that might be useful are fixes like VDIFIX (from the language disks IIRC) that fixes some bugs.
