Re: Beginning of very long journey
Nice, what's the plan? To clone it or improve on the design maybe?

My dreams are coming true! Any chance to throw in goodies like 50 MHz CPU or TT RAM? :-P

Re: Beginning of very long journey
I am in, as long as someone takes care of manufacturing millions sets of Atari custom silicon
For this prototype phase, my biggest goal and actually the only major change compared to original is to squeeze routing to 4 layers only, while Atari design is made on 6 layers, at least the rev I have. This will certainly lower the cost of low volume manufacturing a bit.
Meanwhile, I have finished component placement, quite boring, but easier part of this journey is complete. Here comes the fun part.

I'm wondering how you're getting around the parts supply problem. 68030 is easy but nobody has videls lying around.

Re: Beginning of very long journey
Maybe SuperVidel could be utilised?
We just need a mysterious wealthy benefactor who can fund R&D and production.

Re: Beginning of very long journey
The only realistic solution now is to replace the custom chips with an FPGA.

Re: Beginning of very long journey
Correct. But one step a time

Re: Beginning of very long journey
There are similar projects for the Amiga. The user is obviously expected to cater for chip transplants, but then again you have a fresh motherboard..
I think it’s a good idea to do one thing at a time, and add/change things as the design evolves.

Ain't no space like PeP-space.

Wow!
How do you do this?!?
Do you look at schematic that czietz discover not so lond ago? https://www.chzsoft.de/asic-web/
Or do you trace every path with om ometer on real Falcon motherboard?! I would realylike to know what is process step by step to achieve something like this...
