Ordered 2, + some TOS stuff. This will also boost Exxos stuff (otherwise I have to pay those shipping costs all the time
)

Kinda the idea why I’m using Exxos’ store. That and I don’t have to go to the post office every day.

Ha, it's the same thing when I order things from Lotharek. "Well, I need A... but while I'm here, I may as well order B, C, D... a couple of Es..."

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
And... sold out for the first batch! I wonder if it is possible to work along with LaceScan.
Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
Can’t really see why it shouldn’t work.. Maybe if the pulse width of the vertical sync differs too much switching won’t work. But that’s a matter of tweaking the software.

Bugger. That will learn me for living on the other side of the planet. Out of bed and all sold.

Ditto. I had technical difficulties (Suddenlink should be renamed to SuddenDeath)
and was unable to get online for the whole day. Needless to say, all were sold out
when I did finally get back online. So frustrating.
Guess I'll hope/wait for another batch... /sigh....

Ha, I almost ordered two of them, which means I would have just felt like a jerk now.

I will order 1-2 when it becomes available again...
Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
Hey, so I'm getting the full treatment on my 130XE, with VBXE adapter, which inevitably will have a DIN13 connector on it which specifically is like the ST's RGB output. Wouldn't this mean this adapter would also work with that? Would be much smaller and nicer than the GBS-8220.
I'll test it out when I get it back.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
Ought to. If there’s syncs on the same pins. If it doesn’t, plug it into an ST, set it to low res and hold the button for 3 seconds, it’ll save low res as default at power on.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
Looked at a VBXE install and the DIN13 is upside down? I'd add something to keep the strain off the female connector.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
idk. The GBS-8220 is a scandoubler. This adapter isn't.
Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
Yes, but wouldn't that mean that with a GBS-8220 I could connect it up to ANYTHING... since most modern VGA monitors run at 31Khz. But with this adapter, I can connect it to the Dell 2001FP on my desk, which accepts 15Khz input. So no scan doubling required.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
Yes
I just wanted to make sure since you compared with a scandoubler. The Dell 2001FP is nice, it's one of my compatible monitors. Unfortunately, if you switch resolution often, the need for active re-centering becomes a bit cumbersome. Bought a Nec 1990fxp as well because of that.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
Yeah, I have that one, an NEC 1970NX and BenQ... can't recall the exact model, B920L? That all support 15khz. The picture quality is listed in that order from worst to best for the ST, but the Dell has some dark swirls so it probablynormally has a better picture than mine. But I like the Dell the best because it also has Svideo and Composite.
The auto centering is weird, and I also have the issue where if you push the button to change inputs enough times to cycle back to the one you were already on, the colours get messed up. Not sure if that is normal....

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
I have that messed-up color thing on my second Dell 2001FP. That one is in _factory menu_ mode, and I can't get it out from it. The difference from the fully working one is that on no input it cycles through full screen red/green/blue instead of a smaller moving menu-image thing (likely for burn-in) and the settings menu says "factory mode".
Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
Interesting. Mine does that too on no-input, but only really if I have nothing plugged into it. Reminds me of the 8-bit's 'screen saver' that does the color cycling, yet the text and everything remains, which is the only time I've ever seen burn in, usually just text or window borders, etc. Not sure if it helps in all actuality.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
I had problems connecting the adapter to my nec 1970Nxp. No floppy inserted it boots on hi res and after some seconds, for some strange reason, reboots to low res. Having a game disk inserted doesn't stop rebooting every 2 secs. In the end my floppy died, i have no icons on my desktop (i guess due to constant jump starts. I hope the controller is fine).
Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
Wut? Sounds like a bad WD1772 wich have given up. :/
Can’t see how (although I’ll have to check the schematics to be sure) a disk in the floppy in conjunction with the switch would trigger mode switching...
Where in the world are you located?

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.
Having a game disk insterted it keeps on rebooting as soon as detects the res mode. Pressing the switch it boots to hi res (so I only get the intro text and of course reboots as it should).
The funny thing is, on plain tos, when I boot on hi res(using the switch) after some seconds it reboots to low res.
I just repeated myself right?:)
Well, something must be wrong with my system.
I will replace the WD1772 and try again.
