thanks for the answers and tips!
sooooo.... this weekend i grabbed the tools and took the Falcon apart.... i´ll post photos soon because i didn´t have battery on my phone, duh...
anyway, the floppy drive doesn´t seem to be working properly... i did manage to get two floppies to format and write on the PC (formatting them on the command line to make sure they were Atari compatible), but couldn´t read them on the Falcon no matter what. i will try to clean the drive and see if that helps. it´s an Epson, as expected.
on my trash mountain, i found a total of 6 floppy drives, 3x Sony MPF920 from diferent years (one with the Sony chip Exxos says it´s baaaaaad on his page), a couple of Samsung drives and an old mitsumi D359M3 that honestly looks worse that the one in the Falcon (at least on the outside)...
took the hard drive out, i´m going to test it for bad sectors on a PC as soon as a find a 2.5" to 3.5" IDE cable somewhere along the rest of the junk, hehehe....
The TOS chip says TOS 4.01, but i have the Atari logo when booting so maybe it was upgraded? something to check when i can run *SOMETHING* that would give me information...
standard and original 4MB RAM card, to be upgraded to 14MB ASAP.
Saw some oxydation on the mainboard, so before re-assembling, i´m going to clean it up nicely.
Arne already shipped the NVRAM kit, so i don´t think i´ll turn the machine on again before fitting the NVRAM and cleaning up.
high on the shopping list that will also send me broke:
TOS 4.04 from Exxos (if needed)
HD FLOPPY from Exxos (if i can´t recover the original or modify one i have)
ATARI FALCON 030 PSU UPGRADE KIT 240V type from Exxos (this is just common sense, i think... )
Atari Falcon 030 68882 FPU 40mhz (OC to 64mhz) from Exxos (though i don´t think i´ll overclock it)
IDE to CF converter with cable for Falcon or other IDE boards from Exxos (seems a good solution for storage)
CosmosEX from Jookie. this could provide with networking, USB, SD, etc... for advanced functions seems like the perfect solution... has anyone tried one?
