Strange because mine has a factory installed ajax? Well 2 of them have, a 1989 mobo and a 1991 mobo!

Now we know why Atari bankrupted . They built too good parts in machines !
Why is that question mark there ? If it was really factory install, that's certainly not typical.
Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.

I confirm I have an STE motherboard that came with the Ajax chip soldered
