Thanks for sharing. Really surprised nobody had written a guide for this before.

Re: The LaST Upgrade - Part 9 - CT60 FIRMWARE UPDATE
Not sure why you had some much issues with the software and cables.exxos wrote:Part 9 - My story on flashing the CT60 where everything goes wrong!
May be it was because you are using USB while I was using LPT.
When I did mine, I just followed the Nokturnal guide and everything was working, first time.
The guides at Nokturnal and our AF wiki does not include the section on installing the Xilinx software nor the issues.
I guess for USB, the driver installation is crucial.
So now what's left is the guide to update the SV firmware.

Well I don't have a SV so doubt i be doing a guide
BTW, assuming you have CT60, if you plain boot to TOS, click the floppy drive icon (without a floppy in) and when it says retry or cancel, click cancel, does your CT60 then crash ? its the crashes I always get, never worked out why.

Hope my guide will help others in the future

Now I just need to find new CPU and try and find out why my CT60 crashes so much

My CT60 is rock stable - if I run FreeMiNT and NVDI. It is not stable in TOS, no matter which motherboard/PSU/RAM/CPU/MHz I use. CT-TOS seems inherently unstable on my machines.exxos wrote:BTW, assuming you have CT60, if you plain boot to TOS, click the floppy drive icon (without a floppy in) and when it says retry or cancel, click cancel, does your CT60 then crash ? its the crashes I always get, never worked out why.

I have got away with TOS and NVDI on my CT60 for demo watching purposes., but prefer to run with Mint for the multi-tasking, enhanced desktop etc.My CT60 is rock stable - if I run FreeMiNT and NVDI. I realised there is the "boot" firmware too, I have version 1.01 so I will update that and see if it helps any. I will add it on the end of the CT60 update guide when done.

Re: The LaST Upgrade - Part 9 - CT60 FIRMWARE UPDATE
I don't think it has anything to do with the USB cable, I used it and it went smooth on my CT63 last weekend. I did install the software off the CD and I did purchase the xilint USB box. I elected to register the software, wonder if this had anything to do with it? This was the part of the SV install I was most worried about, overall it went well. I did have to run my CT63 at 74 mhz to eliminate CRC errors on the chips.wongck wrote:May be it was because you are using USB while I was using LPT.

Can you check in Device Manager and see what it says under "programmer cable" ?
Also, I tried the diagnostics in the CT60, I get fail for OS checksum and DSP fail, does anyone else get that ?

Re: The LaST Upgrade - Part 9 - CT60 FIRMWARE UPDATE
Another problem I just run into, is I updated the firmware to 201 (I think) and now it seems to have reprogrammed the CTCM module to 71mhz. My CPU will not run at 71mhz, so now the CT60 will not boot up
I set it to 66 in control panel, but the CT60 just refuses to boot again. I assume you do not have to be in CT60 mode to successfully update the CTCM ? Though it had been worked for about half hour

You should be able to change the CTCM in 030 mode I believe. Thanks..
I am getting even more problems now
It will no longer boot i CT60 mode and 030 mode has gone screwed up ?! I dont know how this thing can simply generate so many problems, I have never got it to work at all since I brought the thing. Each time I spend days solving a problem I end up with a load more problems

Re: The LaST Upgrade - Part 9 - CT60 FIRMWARE UPDATE
When I first got stated with my CT63 I had a tons of problems with it. It turned out that the initial software download was corrupted for the xControl software. I can't remember who set me straight on this, but once this was fixed my CT63 has been very solid.

Re: The LaST Upgrade - Part 9 - CT60 FIRMWARE UPDATE
Without the CT60 the falcon runs fine. I only have problems with CT60.
I noticed in the CPX it was stuck in 2 colours in low res, for some reason thats a valid option in the CPX, but not a actual option in GEM, so thats the video problem solved.
The CTCM I set to 60mhz, and it does not boot with CTCM in anymore
Maybe you can send me your cpx and xcontrol stuff so I can try those ? My download was from didier's site and was a zip file, it did not show it was corrupted when i extracted it, so I assume its ok.
Also do you run any programs in the auto folder for CT60 ?
I dont know why my CRC fails if yours does not, I will take a screenshot tomorrow to confirm what I am getting. I just think my CT60 is simply faulty. I did talk to didier a few years ago about it, but in the end I just gave up with it.
didier said..
I remember than the last 060s of Rodolphe
works _only_ at 50 MHz. The first problems with overclocking of the old
060 rev 1 is caches and FPU crashes. If the ALT key is pressed before
the ATRAI logo, the machine start without cache (original features of
the TOS 4.04).
If you try to increase the CPU frequency, crashs during boot can create
data lost on you disk (bad FAT), because NVDI for example write on your
disk during boot.
