I have an adapter with this chip in my Milan. It's also been tested and used in one of my Falcons, so I have no reason to believe that it won't work with Alan's adapter. If I can find a 44->40-pin adapter I will test it in my STE.

This is my one:
IDE-to-SD-adaptor.jpg
Alan - please PM me your postal address and I'll shove it in the post for you to try out.

I have successfully tried the adaptor alongside UltraSatan and everything is working well. Copying files between partitions across IDE and ACSI is fine.

Next test will be with the ACSI-SCSI adaptor from Inventronik.de...

The STE version is solderless? Then I want to order one immediately. Where can I place my order?

Hi,
I just registered to get hands on the IDE Controller.
So how can I get 2 or 3 controllers for STE/Mega STE?

That was my first idea and I also tried to.
But here: Contact alanh
is nothing to contact. Is it maybe because I just registered and that I'm too new to the forum?
In that case, could you please PM me with some details? That would be very nice :-)

The one that I have is different from the picture. Mine does not have an input for power.
I suppose the Chip is a generic chip and very likely different board manufacturer does something different from one another.
So YMMV and depends.

The reason for the power connector is because it is a 40 pin IDE connector, not 44 pin. It only needs 5v and gnd lines though which is all I feed it.

Success. Now at last my STe has become a fun tool to learn with. Hats off to alanh for this wonderful piece of engineering.

You certainly need patience and a steady nerve to align the pins over the CPU socket and then not press too hard on any side or risk bending them. This must have taken me an hour, obviously there is a technique to it.

Partition size on the 4GB CF card I installed is 256mb, which seems to be the max for TOS 1.06 using AHDI driver. I'll probably buy HDDRIVER to maximise this board's options.

Some pictures soon.

Glad to see you have it working.

And yes, the first time the board is installed, it does take a LOT! of patience. Don't get too hasty with installation, it will pay off if you take your time. The 68000 pins are quite stiff to begin with.

Yes. That's the reason.

I removed my SD adapter from my SCSI-IDE adapter, and put it on the CTPCI IDE cable.
Same results as per years ago, it corrupts the bus when it is attached together with another IDE device.
On it's own, it works - of at least I could partition it and access from TOS.
It's going back to the SCSI chain.

Sorry off topic...

I just landed a MegaSTE. This one does not have a socketed U11 chip. Grrr. I'll see if I can work out a different mechanism for these.

So, just noting for those who maybe get interested for the MegaSTE. Check U11.........

Hi!
@ alanh
I just sent payment. I guess I can't write pm at the moment, so just to let you know about it, i do it here.
Although ordering 2 boards with 2 adapter boards, P&P isn't double, right? Otherwise, I have to send more

@ simonsunnyboy
Thanks for welcome :)

I put the adaptor in last weekend and was careful to check that TOS (1.62) booted before installing and then tested after without a drive and it still booted up which I was very pleased about. I was going to upgrade to 2.06 at the same time but I have the 28 pin version of 1.62 which means desoldering jumpers (For the TOS upgrade not interface).

Anyway, I managed to convince my GF to part with a spare 2.5 IDE drive she had gathering dust and I hooked it up as I had a little cable kicking about too. The drive was recognised by HDDriver alongside my Ultrasatandisk!. The IDE inteface is very well constructed & instalation is not difficult, just a little nerve wracking as you know it's the CPU you are piggybacking. The clip works well for the interrupt line & wasn't as clumsy as I imagined, much better than having to solder. ALl I have to do is put some stuff on the drive and run some tests.

Good work Allan, even based on my experience so far I thorughly recommend this upgrade!

I'm looking for a suitable IDE to sd and came across this one on eBay. Anyone know if this would do the job, and how would I power it? 320942937844

Hi Decky,

This is the one I got, and know it works. 320942937731

It's also 44pin and just needs a 44pin IDE cable.

It's also from the same seller as the one you found.
