Marpet Xtra-RAM +8

Post by alexh »

I am looking for some pictures of the MegaSTe version.

It should be just a VME card.

Anyone ever seen one / got one?

I wish I had one!

Alex do you know if when fitted, a software driver was needed for the MSte/TT to see the extra ram or would it just been seen without any kind of driver?

I think it depended which version you had, but I do not know.

There were 4 versions, one for the ST (MP215B?), one for the STe (MP218C), one for the MegaST (MP216B) and one for the MegaSTe.

There is talk on usenet about people asking for the software drivers for the ST version.

Hardware in this area is quite an unknown quantity.

OOo. Ta very much.

The connector is not what I was expecting. I was expecting a VME connector.

I think there was a MegaSTe version but maybe this version worked for both.

Do you use this? Did it need any software?

I think that is a different product. The one I was thinking about brings the total RAM to 12Mbytes.

I do home someone somewhere has the MegaSTe version... I am dying to see it and get some feel for how it works and what it looks like (form factor)

FYI the MegaST version of the Marpet Xtra-RAM +8 connects to the MegaBus expansion connector. That means that it doesn't fit in the MegaSTe

Fenix, thanks very much for your pic of the STe version.

I still want to see a pic of MegaSTe version.

The Atari really needs a definitive website/database for equipment. I did start adding things I came across to Atari Forum Wiki but it is not the most stable of websites.

Nice! There really should be a ALT-RAM board available for the ST line. As far as I can see, no one is manufacturing them anymore. :(

Sorry for my unclear English. You are correct yours is the STe version. I've never seen a pic of the MegaSTe version. It should look completely different.
