Re: Geneva
That's awesome news.
Do we know who repaired the drive, someone from the Atari community or a specialist company?

Re: Geneva
The drive has not been repaired. It was beyond repair and has been recovered by a professional data recovery company. Dan is receiving the contents on a USB flash drive. I paid for it out of my own pocket.viking272 wrote:That's awesome news.

Re: Geneva
That's very generous Tenox, a massive thanks for doing that.
I can't imagine it was cheap either.

Re: Geneva
This is all good news. I hope Dan dose something good with it or puts it out there for all you really smart ST programmers can add to it.
Tenox thanks here for the cost of recovery. I know it is not cheap. I've had to do it myself and know the costs. My hats off to you.

Re: Geneva
Can this place rescue an SSD drive? I'm quite sure the controller portion went bad and my data is intact. I'd be interested to know where I might get something like that looked at.tenox wrote:The drive has not been repaired. Re: Geneva
Yes they can. The company is DriveSavers - https://www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/ - I use them professionally at my work all the time. They will do a free evaluation for you before committing to anything.lp wrote:Can this place rescue an SSD drive? I'm quite sure the controller portion went bad and my data is intact. Re: Geneva
Thanks for the appreciation. I hope that Dan can make use of it and make the code open source and that talented Atari coders can pick it up and make a new release!
Re: Geneva
Fingers crossed, this would be a really nice addition to the platform, and I personally look forward to seeing those sources!!tenox wrote:Thanks for the appreciation. Re: Geneva
Tenox, can you give Paypal address or maybe you have better option for receiving money? (I have btc/ltc so this would be best option for me
)

Re: Geneva
I donated.
So my understanding was that the source was recovered and it was going to be opened? Any idea on licensing? (like 'BSD, so do whatever with it?')
