I have always been wondering - where those people (buyers) go then? We've seen so many ridiculously overpriced Falcons sold over the past few years but not so many additions to our user (god forbid coder) base. Do they really just put them on the shelf?

Yeah. That is exactly what they do. A shelf, maybe a video or two and that is ir. I wish we could have replica falcons. Classic cars have that...

There are so many 'other' filter bubbles that we here in our filter bubble don’t know.

Wow, makes me wonder if the Falcon bubble will ever burst. If you're not very attached to your Falcon this might be a good time to sell...

With the holidays "looming" think any good sales will be after tax time, at least in the US.

Problem, if you want to call it that, is feeling out what the "outside" user base on eBay is looking for. Granted, a Nemesis isn't all that valuable, but time spent in a proper installation is a tidy sum.
Unless I over paid (retail, not someone's opinion of cost) think my e was close to $500 all said and done. Add the Xylinx USB programmer, fearful sweat, prolly upwards $600. That was with the discipline to ensure cash was on hand throughout the waiting period.
A grand isn't anything today, for me, maybe you, yes. For electronic users everywhere looking to catch the retro wave, don't have the desire to set up a Falcon workstation, as they admittedly need, to retrofit hardware one listed on eBay here is a good option.
Nearly all the threads in atari-forum usually dive into a technical discussion rather quickly, be it hardware, software, or electronics tools.
It wouldn't be hard for a bidder to anonymously drop in here to find a user and machine history. Good feed back on eBay helps.
Being as this Falcon isn't being flipped, what it actually is described well, and time tested upgrade, the buyer is just paying in lump sum what they would have over time.

Why they don't come "onboard" is a question for the masses :) Don't think I've ever been put into "time out", and feel tolerated by at least 3 or 4 members, so I stick around :)

Another way to look at it, the new owner will certainly want to upgrade further down the road. Haven't followed the SuperVidel thread to know where that is possibly going. A combined card would be nice, but not for those of us just wanting the video upgrade.

If this were Antique Roadshow, I'd put the insured value of the CT63e at $800, and the value of the Falcon at $1000. If it were professionally restored (they always say that) with the retro-brite process, completely disassembled and reassembled, the insured value would be $2200 :)
The difference, it is an auction after all.

It's a tidy sum, and a long road back to get there again if you began to miss it :)
