Atari 800: Missing disk write support?

Post by vanfanel »

Hello there!

I am a big Atari 8bit fan, and the Atari 800 core is great!
However, the MiSTer port is outdated. Latest sources by the original author, foft, are available here:
http://www.64kib.com/atarixlfpga_svn/trunk/atari_800xl/

These new sources allow disk writting, so I can for example format a floppy, using DOS here:
http://www.atarimania.com/utility-atari ... 13808.html

In the current MiSTer version, DOS can not format disks, but with the recent sources (well, from last year), it can.
So, could these recent changes be merged to the MiSTer Atari 800 core, please?

It should support disk write. I remember i've tested it.
Formatting isn't trivial and not all cores support formatting. Get an empty disk or any existing one with enough free space and try to write to it.

Yes, formatting a disk does not work but disk writes do.

@sorgelig:

Well, with latest sources in http://www.64kib.com, formatting works in other boards where the core runs.
So maybe those changes could be merged to current MiSTer version?
