The 32mb module will run everything except some of the Neo Geo games.

What arcade boards would you most want to see in MiSTer?

Post by redsteakraw »

What arcade boards would you most want to see in MiSTer? Tell your top three, this is just for gauging community interest. DO NOT demand or harass any devs to work on any boards this is a hobby project and you don't dictate others hobbies. Personally my top three are

1). Cadillacs and Dinosaurs (Capcom CPS 1.5 QSound)
2). Area 51 (Atari CoJag)
3). X-Men arcade (Konami X-Men based board)

I would love to see classic Konami stuff like the turtles arcade game and the simpsons and sunset riders, vendetta and all the other Konami arcade games of that era. they were great back then. the turtles and the simpsons use a similar pcb I've heard and maybe the others do too. so if some cleaver person could get one working maybe the others might follow without too much work. but what do i know i just appreciate anybody with the skills spending the time to do anything for mister its a great platform.

The problem with Dragons Lair and Space Ace is that they were heavily dependent on Laser Disc many of which are starting to have disk rot. Laser Disks were also an analog video format so the question would be how do you encode that to even make a proper rom? There was a Daphne project DVD release you can work off of but then you would need an MPEG 2 chip for decoding or use the Linux Arm chip. When you are using the Linux part then why not just play the game on a PS4? https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games ... ilogy-ps4/

Also if you want to find a bunch of Dragon's lair and Space Ace fans check out the Daphne project forums

I'm not actually sire which of these would be within reach for developers but I think the IGS PolyGame Master cartridge board would be fantastic as there's a good selection of games available on that board.
The Cave 68000 board would be wonderful and obviously anything else that was possible up to the Cave CV1000 series. I'm not sure if they'd all be possible but I would hope that at least the lower end boards would be possible. I know one of their early games was being worked on some time ago but I've not heard anything about it for some time.
Of course, any of the Sega Super Scaler boards would be absouletly incredible although I'm not really sure any of those would be possible.
In all honesty I'm just really grateful whenever new content is released, particularly when it's arcade systems.

Vendetta, Simpsons and X-Men are all using a similar X-Men based PCB. I know someone is working on an Aliens board which is similar to TMNT so maybe it isn't too far away.

Check this website for related PCBs and games

Qix would be great, that was always one of my favorites. It looks like JROK built it over on his fpga board but I guess it didn't make it over to MiSTer?

Also looks like someone started on the Taito boards a year ago. https://github.com/EisernSchild/FAMI/tr ... Taito/6809

I feel like the System 16 and System 18 are probably both completely doable.

If I already posted this, forgive me, but I'd go with Ataxx. I have the arcade board for it, and it has sentimental value. Details here: https://www.arcade-museum.com/game_deta ... me_id=6960

That board has an 80186 and two z80s on it and I do see a FPGA 80186 core here:
https://github.com/jamieiles/80x86
and
https://opencores.org/projects/s80186

So I guess a dev could bang this out with a lot of work and the system schematics....
It sounds like a complicated board.

Gauntlet, anyone?

https://www.reddit.com/r/fpgagaming/com ... ation_wip/

It seems to be running on some other FPGA device, sources available.
