New minimig_mist-20190418 core

Post by retrofun »

Besides the release of MiST firmware 20190418 a new minimig_mist-20190418 core was released:

https://github.com/mist-devel/mist-bina ... 2e37976a69

Code: Select all

RELEASE NOTES
====================
minimig_mist-20190418

Some internal fixes for stability
Enable CD32 Pad support
Thanks!

Now the OSD works nice with joysticks/joypads except one regression I noticed compared to minimig-mist_1_2_3_beta 2018-05-25 core: when I press the A/fire button with OSD enabled the input event is also passed to the core:

When I replaced the old core with this new release the default configuration (AGA, 24MB Ram and Hardfile) no longer starts.
I tried to redo the configuration and save it, but at startup the 24MB of Fast Ram are not recognized.

Obviously I also updated the firmware.

As I see, only if CD32Pad is enabled. Which was not possible with the older version, so I wouldn't call it regression :)
But joystick directions are passed in both modes.

And with previous core? Or previous firmware? (since it works for me, I cannot guess which has the problem).

I replaced the old core and all is ok now. New core doesn't work at all for me.
Tested only on original MiST.

I upgraded firmware and put new Minimig Core on my SDcard. I did not change any config files from old Minimig.

I tried my PlayStation to CD32 adapter (plugged into 9 pin dtype) and I could only get 2 buttons recognised.

Maybe this updates is just for USB controllers and not the 9 pin d type connection?

I have a Megadrive 6 button pad to CD32 adapter but I don't have access to it at the moment.

Thanks for the continued updates.

How can I change the DB9 connector hardware? - it still supports two buttons, nothing more (that's the standard - every other controller uses its own method for more buttons, it's wise to not support them all, since the different electrical characteristics and pinouts could even damage the ARM MCU if a wrong controller is plugged in). You need an USB controller to fully use CD32 pad.
PS: I've discovered a bug in the firmware which doesn't turn on CD32 pad support at boot. You have to enable it after the core loaded every time (now). Will fix it later.

Don't worry about the DB9.
Maybe just add some clarification that CD32 pad buttons are supported on USB controllers.
I guess there are not many people with DB9 CD32 controllers.

I have to change my mist.ini to have all the CD32 buttons working:

[minimig]
joystick_remap=0810,E501,1,2,4,8,40,20,10,80,200,100,0,0,40,400

but in this mode I cannot use SELECT + RWD or FWD to simulate Mouse Buttons press.

Slam Tilt has always worked on Minimig AGA.
Pinball Illusion doesn't work.
