New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core

Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
the difference between 6581 and 8580 is filters.
There was one manufacturing flaw of 6581 turned into feature of digitized samples playback. But that unrelated to timbre.
I don't know how Rayne code is mature and does it fully compatible with real SID features. That's why i've though to swap only filter implementations using older SID (from 1541U2) as it's quite mature.
But switching the whole SID will be easier, actually.

I've done more tests and Pang doesn't boot in this last core version.

Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
I am doing some tests with this core and a jiffydos rom to speed up loading, for example this core and the last one from sorgelig doesn't load the game 1943 - One Year After (SID 8580 crashes on load and sorgelig one doesnt find the file to load after the command LOAD"*",8). The core from Geshtock run it fine.
I miss the option to reset this core on the menu.

Too much Menu Items for this

I think latest firmwares for the MiST by Sorgelig removed the OSD limit, so now is possible to have more options on OSD menu.Gehstock wrote:Too much Menu Items for this

- Support more than 7 OSD options.
- Support '?' in requested file extensions.
Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
Oh i have not seen, without a Mist is this not nessessary.
Then it should be possible
Is this Core Working (SID)? Uses the new SID Code(Patchfile)

Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
Yes Gehstock it is working, I did a quick test loading the game 1943 - One Year After and it runs well on this core
Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
Can you put also the C64GS version?Gehstock wrote:Thank you

I've done more tests... Pang cartridge doesn't work. And it worked in your previous release.Gehstock wrote:Oh i have not seen, without a Mist is this not nessessary.

Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
Yes, Pang cartridge doesn't work here too... It gives a text saying "COMMODORE PANG CHECKSUM VALUE....$038A"
Also it seems to me the sound of the SID 8580 patched core has less volume than original core.
As I understand Gehstock doesn't have a working MiST anymore, maybe we can make a bounty to buy him another MiST or a MiSTica clone, because it should be a pain to develop blind eyes.

Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
No I do not want that, thanks anyway.

I'm with you, same idea.Xtro wrote:As I understand Gehstock doesn't have a working MiST anymore, maybe we can make a bounty to buy him another MiST or a MiSTica clone, because it should be a pain to develop blind eyes.
Lotharek still has many MiST.
A developer needs hardware to program.
Gehstock and Sorgelig are very active developers. We need their support.
Who agrees ?

Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
I would put 10 euros without problems. By the way, Mistica FPGA16 has an EAR input, and is used by Soderlig's Spectrum and CPC cores.
Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
add: Reset in Menu and maybe Connect the Pots so Pang should work now

Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
Same problem with Pang.
Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
Yes, same problem with Pang, but thanks anyway for Reset option, makes a lot more comfortable to try PRG & D64 software.
I am open for donations for sorgelig & gehstock, or any other active developers. Even if they do this for fun or love to the ancient machines and don't ask nothing in exchange, they spend a lot of time and it is the minimum final users can do to thank them.

Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
I think we all agree ! Perhaps the developers can help us with some ideas how the community could help to make the development of mist cores more attractive.
Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
Simply someone of our community can collect the amount to buy a new MiST and send it to Gehstock.
Who is available ?

Re: New SID 8580 implementation for the C64 core
Please people is nice but I really do not want that. I would then always feel obliged to make updates. And I prefer to stay independent. It would be no problem at all for me to buy a new MiST but it has only a very small community and is discontinued.
