Apple I core

Post by RobertK »

I just noticed on Gehstock's GitHub repository that he has brought a first version of an Apple I core to the MIST.

I don't quite know how to use the Apple I, but at first sight it does what is expected.

@Gehstock: thanks once more for keeping the MIST project alive.

MIST-only owners do not check the MISTer section very often... :)

Thanks.

As a MiSTer-only owner I had never come over here before either. :D
I came for an Apple 1 post. Was not disappointed.

Yea I can say as a MiST owner I have never looked at the MiSTer forums since it was split off on its own...

If someone modifies the code to be able to load text files as if they are being typed in I will convert some more software. While I can not test or use this, I anticipate being able to do so at some point...

Right now I have two copies of microchess and I have no easy way to tell which is newer or if they are just completely different. =]

Hi!

Just now discovered a "serial transfer" version of the core in Gehstock's GitHub repository. There's an 'off *.on' option in the menu, selecting that you get into the file browser. How should it work? (Sorry for my ignorance but I'm absolutely no familiar with the orginal system).

Sorry for double post, I wrote the same to the MiSTer topic of the core, not sure which one should I use (I own only a MiST, but main infos are in the another topic).

.Serial Setup
Depending on the board you can use serial to communicate with the Apple 1, some boards require a toggle to be set to select between PS/2 input and UART input. The UART by default will be set to 115200 (8/N/1).

A very basic hardware flow control is implemented. You should turn on CTS support as this will allow you to cut and paste code into the Woz Mon without the Apple 1 missing any bytes.

I know nothing about this Machine and can't Test. Never See this Core in Action

Try Serial Transfer with another FPGA Board, without succsess. Same for the ORAO Core. Maybe i was wrong

The main problems are in my opinion that nobody who is familiar with original systems (Apple One and Orao) is interested to help porting these cores, and without a working MiST it's near impossible to complete these (or add similar) functions.

As usually, I'm very grateful for your tireless effort making these cores better!

Thank you, and have a nice weekend!

Gehstock, did you ever try to directly contact lotharek at lotharek@lotharek.pl about repairing your MiST?
