People vote what they were familiar with in their childhood. Most common machines naturally will have most votes, as they had most users. And people are more likely interested in retro games than in retro applications, so more gaming oriented machines probably get more votes too.

It doesn't mean you should put time into what you are interested about! Less widely sold machines can still have very devoted users. :-)

I think many people didn't vote to CoCo3 because they knew that you are already working on it.

I.e. I would vote to the TRS-80 Model I (It's clone, the HT-1080z was a popular school computer in Hungary during the first part of the 80's: http://ht.homeserver.hu/html/htrolattekintes.html , but I didn't, because sebdel was already working on it). Instead I vote to Enterprise 128 (also very popular in Hungary a decade later), but it didn't pass the semifinal... :-(

Actually I think the magic of something like the MiST is to bring the LESSER KNOWN systems to life ..

Every survey method will have some kind of bias, so these results should be taken with a grain of salt. :)

Get a new core like the Coco3 implemented, and you might get a bunch of new MiST users onboard with very different opinions.

No... please... that's just a survey and most people vote for popular systems, but Coco computers are a part of computing history and for example, here at Spain, Dragon computers were made in their end of life, and there are still active users

Funny thing is I got a real CoCo (model 2 I think) in my garage, it was given to me by my old landlords nephew.. and I dont dare plug it in.. I'd rather use your core!

I think most of my USSR retro cores won't ever appear in such poll, but it doesn't matter since it's fun to make them.
So, don't mind if you are working on core not listed here.

If it wasn't for your cores I wouldn't have known about these USSR machines, so I'm glad they were made!

Honestly the whole beauty to the MiST is things like your USSR retro cores.. the more rare, unknown or less popular the better as it gives people who never had the chance to experience the machine the opportunity.

I just got a real Coco2 and love it. However, if the Coco3 core sees the light of day, that's one less machine taking up space in house. The Coco3 is awesome, at least from all the videos I've seen of it in action.

There is a Japanese retro HDL developer who already has a SNES FPGA core (I believe he did several other cores and one may have done another core already ported to MiST)

http://pgate1.at-ninja.jp/SNES_on_FPGA/index.html

Their changelog is very impressive and the game support and sound support is even more impressive. Just doesn't seem to have a source release (or even a binary release) :(

I think Till contacted him but apparently he's not sharing.
Also looking at the utilization report it looks like it wouldn't fit on the MiST with 28K LEs... :(

XT/PC was in the final round.... is anybody working on such a core?
If yes, he can take a look at the BETA XT-Core for the smaller FPGA-Computer ZX-Uno, which seems to get his XT core now :)

The ZX-Uno PC core looks promising.
Here is another PC FPGA project: user newold86 at the vcfed.org forum has built a CGA-compatible XT completely in FPGA - except for the 8088 CPU (for which he used the real thing):

The ZX-Uno has smaller FPGA but faster SRAM (10ns). It can be run at 100Mhz. There is also planned an addon with SRAM, so with 2 chips of 8 bits wide we can simulate 16 bits accesses. The main problem is the capacity. SRAM is much more expensive than DRAM, so the maximum memory available to the ZX-Uno is 2Mb (internal) +2Mb (external)

PC-XT, of course.
If ZX-ONE almost has it, MiST should have it already.
It does not need a very fast memory to run the core to many MHZ, PC-XT only needs 10 MHz.

My vote is ensuring all cores work on all MiST versions before new ones are created !! ;)

I wish Amstrad CPC Plus feature series implemented in the CPC Core and an OCM (MSX) core that works without disk errors on new Mist hardware.
