F12 or the Mist middle button doesn't bring up the core menu.
I'm running the latest GB core and firmware.

No problem with latest GB core (150914) and firmware (160530) in my Mist (F12 and middle button).NML32 wrote:F12 or the Mist middle button doesn't bring up the core menu.

Re: New core: Gameboy
Thanks, I'll double check maybe I messed something up. I'm moving cores to multiple SD cards to organize them.
Update: I was running an older GB core.
Thx

Re: New core: Gameboy
Sorry for refloating the thread and for my English, but I can not press "start" in any games. I've tried two keyboards and one real genesis pad...
edit: In the end I had to use a usb pad

Re: New core: Gameboy
Yes, as I see this is an 'USB gamepad only' core. It would be very nice to control this with my default 2-button db9-joy (I hacked earlier my old QuickShot II Plus, I had to rewire it anyway, so connected one of the two fire buttons to pin 9 instead of pin 6, now using the NES core the top bottom is the jump, the front the fire playing Super Mario
). Other cores (beside the NES the SMS, PC-engine, and many Amiga titles) already support this.
I always hated gamepads, because grew up using mostly c64, and I still think the most perfect game controller is the joystick.
Hardware hacking "howto": http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/DB9-Joystick
Mapping 'Select' and 'Start' to keyboard would also be necessary.
Thanks in advance: Gábor

Work a little bit on the Core
Add Keyboard Controls
Add a Option to Override the Mapper(Some Game with MBC5 Mapper will work(Antz, Speedy Gonzales)). Reset Needed
Add GBC File Format(some GBC Games work on a normal GB)
--
-- ESC : Start
-- TAB : Select
-- SPACE : Button A
-- LALT : Button B
-- ARROW KEYS : Movements
Edit: delete Attachment(outdated)

Thanks a lot Gehstock!
Re: New core: Gameboy
Hi!
Tried quickly 6 GBC games, using the latest (second) core from Gehstock with the following results (see attachments also):
1. Bomberman Quest: loads title screen, but does not start.
2. Chessmaster: Working flawless.
3. Earthworm Jim - Menace 2 the galaxy: freezes at 'Nintendo' logo
4. Ghosts 'N Goblins: Works frawless.
5. Mortal Kombat 4: Does not start.
6. Pocket Bomberman: Flawless.
The compatibility is circa 50%, this is very good for the first attempt!
Thanks your work again: Gábor

Re: New core: Gameboy
This is awesome, thanks so much. Game Boy is one of my favorite systems. I actually just finished adding a backlight to my original model. Not sure how much it helps, but one way to identify what GBC games are backwards compatible with the original GB is that they have a black cartridge shell compared to the clear shell of GBC only games. No way to tell from a file, but you could always do an image search for the cart.

Re: New core: Gameboy
Hi!
I used Wiki's "Backward Compatible" column:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_G ... olor_games
I downloaded the ROMs from the net, as did never have GameBoy or other handheld console. Here in the eastern bloc these were unfortunately less common than in the capitalist western (or far eastern) countries...

Nice progress!
Found an interesting bug: tried 'space invaders (u) [c][t1][h1].gbc', and the first (crack) screen is shaking, but the game itself is perfect (see attachments).
Thanks for perfecting this (and other) core(s)!

Re: New core: Gameboy
The fact that some gbc games run on the classic gb may be a nice starting point for gbc support in the core.
I wonder if these games differentiate between the two machines at all or if they e.g. just setup color registers which then just don't do anything on the classic gb.
However, i'd expect those games to not use all gbc features so they might be a good start, anyway.

Re: New core: Gameboy
Anyone have a copy of the last gameboy core? The one on mist page is from like 2015 and lsdj doesn't work. gehstock link is broken.
Nevermind I found the gehstock backups and tried the newer one, but it doesn't work with VGA. Just keeps flashing a black screen. Hear the start screen bleep and then it just flashes out of range.

Re: New core: Gameboy
The VGA-compatibility of this core is not so super, but it definitely works on less picky displays, like BenQ BL-912. My Samsung TV does not like it also.Televicious wrote: Nevermind I found the gehstock backups and tried the newer one, but it doesn't work with VGA. Just keeps flashing a black screen. Re: New core: Gameboy
Hmm, maybe a scan quadrupler. I doubt it's displaying in 320x288 or 160x144. Wonder what it's configured to display as. Will try different screens and see if anything works. Thanks for the tip.
