Put them to both root and ql, the firmware will pick up from either of themdesUBIKado wrote:

Why do you need the old driver anyway?

Re: Sinclair QL
First of all, I 'm authentic n00b on Sinclair QL system. I'm beginning to know QL with MiST.slingshot wrote:Put them to both root and ql, the firmware will pick up from either of themdesUBIKado wrote:

I've 2 image files with QL software: QXL.win and QL_BDI.bin, and they are different inside. Each of them starts with a different rom.
QLMSDBIN.ROM --> to start up with QL_BDI.bin
QLXSDWIN.ROM --> to start up with QXL.win
If i want to work with QL_BDI.bin I need copy QLMSDBIN.ROM to ql.rom. If i want to work with QXL.win I need copy QLXSDWIN.ROM to ql.rom.
Changing mist.ini I wanted to be able to work with one or the other.
Maybe there is a simpler way to do it but I have already said that I am a beginner in the QL world.

Re: Sinclair QL
I resolve the mistery. QLMSDBIN.ROM and QLXSDWIN.ROM must stay inside QL folder. Don't work if they stay in root folder (thanks Slingshot)
But... this configuration doesn't work. [ql] section is last one:
But putting [ql] section between [mist] and [genesis] then does works.

Thanks in advance

for MiST
unpack them
rename the Minerva_1.98a1_qlsd107_MiST.bin to QL.rom and copy it to the SD card
copy the QXL.win file to the SD card
copy the latest QL_xxxxxx.rbf to the SD card
create a folder on the SD card named QL
copy the your .mdv files into the QL folder on the SD card
insert the SD Card in the MiST ; switch it on
choose the QL core
F12
set the memory to 640k (you will get 896k)
save the configuration
right ALT+left ALT+CTRL reset the core
you should see now a garbled screen
that will be replaced with the MINERVA boot screen
your choices now are :
F1 o r F2 wmon / wtv boot from QXL.win
CTRL F1 or F2 boot from MDV (choose it first)
SHIFT+CRTL F1 or F2 only 128 KB memory and boot from MDV (e.g for Psion CHESS)
have fun
Re: Sinclair QL
Just don't forget the QL-SD driver's limitations:
- only SDHC (SD Card > 2GB)
- only FAT32
- only defragmented .win file
Using a FAT32 .vhd file solves the last two easily.

And the first one too. I have ql.vhd files with 128 MB and 1.5 GB and both of them work fine.slingshot wrote:Just don't forget the QL-SD driver's limitations:

Re: Sinclair QL
The host card must be SDHC even if the vhd is small.desUBIKado wrote:
