The board itself actually has 32MBytes of RAM. For the ST currently ~14.5MB of these are used (14MB for RAM and 500KBtyes for TOS and cartridge ROM). A real 68000 could not address more than 16MB. The TG68 core in the MIST can address more memory and it should be possible to add another 16MB "alternate" ram.
And yes, all three Atari video modes incl "st high" are being displayed on a standard VGA screen.
And finally the MIDI add-on: Yes, you'll need one for MIDI to work and there's sure be one. I have three prototypes of these and i am currently working in this. Most MIDI enabled games play their music just nicely, but cubase is not working yet ...
