Just discovered that all the files in the repository have been removed due to inactivity on the account.

I have reactivated the account and I am starting to put back the 577 files !
As I still do not have a fiber connection it is going to take a long long time ... but it will run on my server 24H/day 7D/week
I will keep you posted. Sorry for the inconvenience

I'm sure both Marcer and Climatics will host the files as a permanent backup too. Can't have this kind of stuff disappearing.
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

This message to let you know that the images are now uploaded.

Just as a reminder this repository has been created originally for people to share their stream images. I was assuming that many people would participate to create this shared repository. But unfortunately only kodak80 and myself have uploaded images in this repository.
Kodak80 feels that this situation is unfair and therefore he has decided to remove his 298 images he had uploaded in the past.
I fully support his decision and I understand his frustration

Therefore, only the 279 images that I have uploaded are left on the repository. Note that many of these images were not done by me, but mainly collected from other threads. If someone see an images he/she owns and do not want to be shared on this repository just let me know I will remove them.

I will shortly update the list of reminding images at the beginning of this thread

Good job and thanks DrCoolZic. And I hope Kodak80 will reconsider his decision. While I can understand his frustration, I don't share the reaction.

Half the problem may be that most folk don't have the relevant hardware to capture flux images from their originals.

Arriving late....
I just built a GreaseWeazle which saves Disk Streams as *.scp files.
I just imaged an original un-modified diskette of UIS 3.32.

How may I share? Do I 7zip it first? On my mac, I believe I would use "Keka."

Noob Question: How do I upload to Atari-Forum?

The zipped file is 22mb and too large to be attached.

Too big for the forum, best off using mega upload or we transfer and sharing the download link.

UIS 3.32 uploaded to mega

Please provide feedback and recommendations. I may have some other SW to upload and I want them to meet quality standards.

I have transferred your image to the repository. But I will probably remove it as the image does not seems to be good.
As you can see on the following pictures side 2 has a lot of error in two areas.
Either you floppy is bad or it needs to be clean up. Try to clean and recreate image

Cool. I will need to download Aufit. :-)

I inspected the disk surface visually and did not see defects nor debris. I cleaned the surface with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab before the above stream.

Physically which side of the diskette is Side 2, so that I may focus on the areas needing most attention?

I think that when looking at the FD from front side 2 is the back of the FD

Floppy disks have side 0 and side 1, side 0 is on the bottom (where the hub is) and side 1 on the top (where the label is stuck on). So, side 2 would therefore be on top.

I visually re-inspected and then re-cleaned the disk with IPA and a cotton swap = no improvement in image.

I slowed step-rate from 3ms to 4ms and added a delay of 4ms = no improvement of image.

Two more questions:
1) Are there visual indicators when looking at the physical diskette to indicate which sector you are looking at with your eyes?
2) instead of using a 1.44mb Samsung SFD-321B drive, is there and advantage to using one of my 720K drives for imaging DD diskettes?

Howdy folks!

I've put together my Greaseweazle, and made a few dumps.
I've tried dumping most disks at least twice, and so far, have about 100 odd disks dumped.
Most disks seem to have 1 bad sector, and it seems to be the same sector on a lot of disks. (Side 0, track 0, sector, I think, 4).
All of the games like this seem to launch and run ok, but, obviously, I presume, this shouldn't be the case?

About 1/3 of my disks have more than 1 sector bad too.

And only about 10% seem to have no errors.

I presume the disks with errors may be useful still, so, the tracks may be fixed if someone else has the same disk, but with a different sector damaged?

Rob Northern disk protection was widely used and has a similar feature to what you describe. Can you provide a link to one of the disk images with the bad sector so more experienced dumpers can confirm?

An example of the Rob Northern protection can be seen in this dump:

Sure.

I'll sort out all my 0 and 1 bad sector dumps, and anything else that looks a bit funny.

Is there anywhere in particular you want this?
(Or, indeed, all of these?)

Like I said, I have about 100 odd disks dumped, about 200 or so images, and about 6GB of files total, so far, I think.

I'm trying to do 10-20 every day.

Firstly, 7Zip is a good way to compress dumps into a smaller storage format.

If you don't have it already, DrCoolZic's AUFIT (https://info-coach.fr/atari/software/pc ... /Aufit.php) tool is a great way to check dumps and export them to STX format to test in an Atari Emulator.

If you use this link below to share the dumps, I can then share them for others to access or add them to DrCoolZic's Mega share for review:
https://www.dropbox.com/request/DTUu6HMB7ojWWK4xjhjS
(The above link has 11GB of space available so upload as many as you like)
