Hi ijor,
The datasheet for the drive said it's an 82 track drive. (It's a PC Drive: Alps DF354 H090F)

Re: Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository
OK, so, I tried 82, 83 and 84 tracks. They all seem to read, but when I checked the 84 track dump, there was no data in there, but it didn't look like the 81-83 "no data" tracks. It was completely blank. SO, I guess the drive works for 83 tracks!
SO, I redumped:
Turbo Outrun : Kixx (as 5 revolutions, it was 3 before) and 83 tracks.
Street Fighter 2 : US Gold (previously, disk 2 and maybe 4 had errors. All cleaned and ok now)
And I dumped Movie Premier: Disk 1 (Gremlins 2 / Back to the Future 2) which was fine, but Disk 2 (Teenage Hero Turtles/Days of Thunder) had mold on it.
I cleaned it several times, and redumped each time. Eventually the surface just came off, so, yeah. I guess that is as good as I'm going to get that one.

That doesn't mean too much, as you find out yourself.Mikerochip wrote:The datasheet for the drive said it's an 82 track drive. (It's a PC Drive: Alps DF354 H090F)
Not really, or at least not necessarily. What you see is probably just some tracks with no data and other completely erased and demagnetized that is not quite the same thing.Mikerochip wrote:OK, so, I tried 82, 83 and 84 tracks. Re: Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository
OK, some more:
Bubble Bobble : The Hit Squad. Cleaned and redumped (at 5x rev.) this multiple times. Only included the last 2 dumps, since the first 7 were dirty. The .st disk image seems to load and run ok too, so I included it.
One of the dumped I tried as single sided, but Aufit didn't seem to like it: It showed it as a double sided disk, with each side having only 40 tracks, so I did the rest as double sided. The .stx didn't work either.
(I didn't open it to check if the stx was 2x 40 track or 1x 80 track)
edit: OK, I opened the STX: It's two sided, with 40 tracks per side. Not one single sided disk.
Flimbo's Quest: Kixx. Redumped at 5x revolutions. Just because.
International Ninja Rabbits : Micro Value. Redumped at 5x revolutions.
@ijor, are there many disks with data up to the 83rd track? (Is there a list anywhere?) I'm just curious if I have anything that might be on it. (So far only that one disk showed data after track 80. I would have dumped to track 82 previously)

Re: Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository
There are very few original disks with more than 80 tracks. Almost all are 80 tracks (tracks 0-79), sometimes even less. This was for the obvious reason that there was no guarantee that all disk drives would read beyond track 79. Regarding disks with 83 tracks, which means data in track 82, I believe I've seen only two titles.Mikerochip wrote:@ijor, are there many disks with data up to the 83rd track? But it's always good to dump at least one more track that has no data. That's why I recommended to dump 83 tracks (tracks 0-82) for Running Man. For most titles dumping 82 tracks (0-81) is good enough.

Re: Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository
OK, can do!
I've redumped and uploaded Heroes: Disk 3 and 4 this time with 84 tracks dumped.
I also added that single sided Bubble Bobble if it's needed (The one that Aufit doesn't process as single sided)
Then I've redumped (5x instead of 3x revolutions)
Prince of Persia : The Hit Squad,
MicroProseSoccer : Kixx (Set 1)
Pro Tennis Simulator : Code Masters
Shoot Em Up Construction Kit : GBH
Oriental Games : Kixx
Crazy Cars : The Hit Squad This disk is physically damaged, so, it's never going to dump properly. (It looks like there's a little indent in the disk)

Re: Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository
So, I just got a Kryoflux....
I can try to image some originals I have while doing other stuff, at the moment.
I was wondering, what is the best format to share here? I messed around a little with Aufit, and dumped Roadwar 2000 with -
dtc -fRoadwar2000 -i0 -i2 -i4
Is this what I should be doing, and sharing the output in a zip, or is there another step/better process to follow? I looked around at the images on Mega and did not really see anything that matched the 168 file output I got. Not that this is an issue.
I tried dumping CTR images in the GUI and never could import into Aufit, so I am assuming I was doing something wrong there.....
Thanks for the help!

Re: Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository
Hi mouse_master,
I imagine something like the following:
image type kryoflux heavy/raw, device kryoflux, drive 0, low density, 5 revolutions, 5 retries, start track 0, end track 83 (so, the 84th track)
dtc -f<name> -i0 -i2 -i4 -m2 -d0 -dd0 -r5 -t5 -s0 -e82
I came across this too:

I use the Kryoflux Java GUI these days and it has been a long time since I used DTC directly. In the GUI you need to use the "KryoFlux stream files, preservation" option for dumping ST disks.

ST Action Disk 48 and Disk 58.
I'm not sure disk 48 is ok though, it halts on Steem, hAtari etc. (It's the Risky Woods demo disk)
Looks like it dumped fine? If someone could have a look for me that'd be super!
And then duplicates of Disk 28 and 36 and 37

One (STAction_Issue48_1992-04_InteractivePublishing_Disk36Of58_Set2_AtariST_Dump1) loads as Video Kid (so Disk 37?) and the other one (STAction_Issue48_1992-04_InteractivePublishing_Disk37Of58_Set3_AtariST_Dump1) loads as Parasol Stars (Disk 36), neither contains Risky Woods??? If these are labelled as Risky Woods then they may have been overwritten with other ST Action disk contents?
Did not see ST Action Disk 58 uploaded?
The following were in my dropbox upload and have been moved to the repository:
STAction_Issue44_1991-12_InteractivePublishing_Disk28Of58_Set2_AtariST_Dump[GW](mikerochip)
STAction_Issue48_1992-04_InteractivePublishing_Disk36Of58_Set2_AtariST_Dump[GW](mikerochip)

STAction_Issue67_1993-11_InteractivePublishing_Disk58Of58_AtariST_Dump[GW](mikerochip)
The Issue48 disks may need to be removed though if the disks are labelled as Risky Woods.

Re: Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository
Hi Kodak80,
Disk 58 is from issue 67. So, Issue67 Disk 58 (of 58).
It's the disk from the last issue of ST Action, before it got merged into ST User.
Issue 57 is disk 48. That's the Risky Woods demo, and the one that won't load for me.
And the scans, https://archive.org/download/AtariST_Am ... can656.jpg There's a tif too: https://archive.org/download/AtariST_Am ... can656.tif
I'll crop them later and add them to the ST action archive.org set. https://archive.org/details/ST_Action_U ... disk_Scans
All my raw tif scans go here btw: https://archive.org/details/AtariST_Amiga_Floppy_Disks
I crop them and use my very very limited photoshop skill set to try and repair any damage, and crop them before I upload them to their respective archive.org sets.
~
Disk 58, top left, disk 36 top right, disk 48, bottom left and disk 37.
I have already cropped and cleaned up disks 36 and 37, from set 1 I think.
I put the issue first in the title, since some issues had two disks (like issue 48) but most (of the earlier and later issues) only had one disk.

Re: Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository
I just noticed my Sensible Soccer only has disk 1 in it, disk 2 wasn't in the 7z, so I uploaded that again.

Re: Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository
Hello kodak80 / All,
I uploaded 4 titles to the dropbox link previous provided.
Roadwar 2000
Roadwar Europa
Wargame Construction Set
(All 3 were brand new)
Nervana Quest (2 Disk)
Included in the archives is the original Stream from DTC and a STX from Aufit. I do not believe any of these disks were protected.
Please let me know if there is anything I need to change in my process in backing up disks and uploading them.
Going to capture a few more here shortly.
Thank you!

Re: Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository
Just sent up -
Asteroids de luxe
Aussie Joker Poker
Boulder Dash Construction Kit
Crack'ed
Knight Orc
Zynaps
Items I did not send....
Articfox - Think disk is hosed
Death Sword - Seemed to image fine, autoboots but bombs in TOS 1.0/1.4 in Hatari
Fraction Action - Same as above, except started from desktop and bombs.
I have multiple copies of Death Sword and Fraction Action, so I will check other disks another time.
Should I also do Applications? Just in my quick grab I have Straight FAX!, ICD AdSpeed ST Disk,Grammar Expert, Flash, and Award Maker.

Yes, as long as they are original disks, all are welcome.mouse_master wrote: Should I also do Applications? Just in my quick grab I have Straight FAX!, ICD AdSpeed ST Disk,Grammar Expert, Flash, and Award Maker.
