Can you expand on that please?

What would be considered not-clean?

Other than SEUCK, I've seen another odd result from AUFIT. Operation Stealth looks to be a 11 sector format, where the 11th sector is unformatted for all tracks.

Again, it runs correctly in STeem from the scp file, so I assume the dump is working?

Look at the disk as an image in Aufit, or run Aufit in batch mode, and it'll create a txt file, and png which is a picture of the disk.

If there's white spots/areas on the disk, those places may need cleaning.
if there's orange, then those areas may be copy protection, or, may be damaged, or need cleaning.

Have a look at the simpsons disk I put up in the bad dump folder, vs the simpsons disk MugUK put up.

As per what Mikerochip has advised. Orange can indicate disk protections or can be a problem with the flux information. Purple or dark blue in AUFIT also can indicate problems. White normally indicates mould or dirt on the surface.

Orange and dark blue are the hard ones to tell if this is a disk protection or not. Once you have done quite a few you get to know some of the normal disk protection systems and where the orange is located. Rob Northern protections normally on side 0, track 0 has a single orange sector and is used quite widely and can be seen in your Knightmare disk 1.

All of you dumps look fine to me. SEUCK is copy protection formatting.

Balistix and Munsters have protection on last (centre) track shown in dark blue here but dump is good and clean:
Ballistix.png
Lemmings 2 has a similar protection on last track but shows in normal light blue.

Roller Coaster Rumble disk 1 has some purple and I moved it the repository (as there is no other dump of these disks) but could really do with re-dumping and/or cleaning:
RCR_1.png
AUFIT is normally a good way to check that the dump is good but In the end if it loads in steem emulator it may be fine and here is how Roller Coaster Rumble disk 1 looks in HxC emulator which shows it looks clean:
RCR_1_HxC.png
If it were my disk, I would re-dump it to see if the purple tracks can be dumped cleaner. Hope that this helps.

Kodak80,

I've re-dumped Roller Coaster Rumbler, it looks clean this time. I've uploaded more titles to your Dropbox (including RCR), all seem okay apart from Hacker. I've dumped that 3 times and got the same result each time, so it may be the disk at fault. All the others seem okay.

RCR looks good now. Thanks for re-dumping disk 1. :D

Hacker doesn't look good in AUFIT but in HxC looks better. I have moved it to the repository along with the other dumps:

The Magnetic Scrolls Collection (inc. Audio) [GW] (Total Eclipse)
The Chaos Engine [GW] (Total Eclipse)
Shadow of the Beast II [GW] (Total Eclipse)
Populous II (1MB) [GW] (Total Eclipse)
Operation Stealth [GW] (Total Eclipse)
Lure of the Temptress [GW] (Total Eclipse)
Hacker [GW] (Total Eclipse) [Possibly bad]
Deja Vu [GW] (Total Eclipse)
Archer Maclean's Pool [GW] (Total Eclipse)

Thank you.

Hacker dump is just fine. But for some reason AUFIT believes there is a protection when there is really not. The Pasti image might still work or not depending on the tool and how it interprets the protection put by AUFIT.

Thank you.

I'm having a few days off (self imposed - suffering from back pain and my disks are in the attic).

Next week I'll work through my budget titles.

Ditto. I have an account there, but not yet used it for anything. I think there's one set of chip music for many machines that I found on a 20 year old CD-ROM :)
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

But!
Nice to see it all up there.

I created a quick copy protection sheet for Lure of The Temptress, btw!

More notes -

War in Middle Earth (Disk 2 Bad) (Physically Damaged, scratched)
ST Wars (Disk Bad) (Looks Physically Damaged, lots of scratch rings)

I cleaned both Cosmic Pirate (Disk 2) & Gunship (Disk 1 Dirty) and did not get a good dump. Will give those another try when I get a chance. Sorry for being so long since I last worked on this...... Fingers hurt too much last night to even try to post from cleaning 9 disks! ;)

I really should upload the scp's and stx's I have done. I think the good images are mostly archived already and I had a lot where the png showed muck on the disks mostly these were disks I acquired. So I should work out if any of the bad ones are missing, clean with IPA, re-image and upload. It would be nice if there were a tool could uniquely ID disks against a db as part of greaseweasle or aufit process.

@MiggyMog, there's no harm in having more than one dump of a particular disk!

It helps to verify if a disk is ok. The more, the better!
Each disk, while having the same title, might be from a different publisher, for a different country, or even just be a different revision!

So! Image all the disks :)

Due to the nature though, of the disk images, it'll be impossible to uniquely ID each disk.
(At least, I think, at the flux level, if my limited understanding is correct)
