Looking good. Will it be an opensource design? I only ask because I imagine it is inspired by the Amiga variant?

Everything will be open source once it will be finished, and it's not inspired by that Amiga project - both ACSI and floppy parts are done using STM32 microcontrollers...alexh wrote:Looking good. Will it be an opensource design? I only ask because I imagine it is inspired by the Amiga variant?

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
Jookie, would be possible to use that device as an graphics card?

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
Ah cool. There is another Amiga floppy emulator project which uses STM32 microcontrollers.Jookie wrote:it's not inspired by that Amiga project - both ACSI and floppy parts are done using STM32 microcontrollers...

They use the ultracheap (€18) off the shelf Gotek floppy emulators and a revised firmware.

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
Hmm, interesting... But the main features of CosmosEx don't lie in the floppy emulator part, but in the hard disk / network drive / network card partalexh wrote:Ah cool. There is another Amiga floppy emulator project which uses STM32 microcontrollers.

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
It could be done, but it would lower your hard disk transfer speed and it probably wouldn't work well with existing games and demos (if it would be done through ACSI port), but if you are asking only about supporting new stuff, then you could get interesting things out of it (although there would be lack of ST software for that).Cyprian wrote:Jookie, would be possible to use that device as an graphics card?

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
registered my interest
If I'm reading it right, will this support USB sticks in the same way that Ultrasatan supports SDCards ? e.g Will HDDriver 'see' a USB stick and let me format it with TOS/Windows compatability ? as that would be BRILLIANT

Yes, you have two options:spiny wrote:If I'm reading it right, will this support USB sticks in the same way that Ultrasatan supports SDCards ? e.g Will HDDriver 'see' a USB stick and let me format it with TOS/Windows compatability ? as that would be BRILLIANT
- use native mode - access the sectors of the USB stick using HDDRIVER or ICD Pro with the TOS / Windows compatibility stuff (just like UltraSatan)
- use translated mode - have Windows partition on your stick and use it through my driver, without HDDRIVER and the TOS / Windows compatibility. This translated mode is also used for folders shared from your windows / linux machine, and in both cases (USB stick and shared drive) it shows directly like another drive letter under TOS.

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
I am probably in the minorty here but I have a MegaSTe
What are the chances of making the PCB design flexible enough to be fitted into a MegaSTe to the internal ASCI port?

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
I'd love to buy one for my Falcon030, but I guess it won't work with the Falcon030?

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
Cool thing! I want to register but it is not possible, it says there are illegal characters in my email adress. There are no, just name@provider.de.
Beside the ACSI version a SCSI version also would be welcome - for the Falcon.

Power without the Price. It's not a bug. It's a feature. _/|\_ATARI

Talked to a couple of friends that would be interested as well if it would work with the Falcon030. Please consider that!

I agree: Support of the Falcon would be great.

Same goes for the STacy. I wonder if Alan H.'s adaptor cable that I use in my STacyalexh wrote:I am probably in the minorty here but I have a MegaSTe

with the Ultrasatan would work okay with this device? That would be handy.

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
Great design !
From my point of view you made the right choice by exploiting correctly the RPi with Linux.
RPi HW & Linux is a powerful couple allowing to make such things "easily" without reinventing the wheel : disk, file system and network support already there and working perfectly.
I am thinking to use this kind of board in some products too. Here is something that i have experimented last year : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJEekEhZtD8

Hmm, does this hook through the ASCI port or the floppy port? Maybe you said it and I missed. I am getting old haha.
I like the design, hey do you think this could support the SuperCard Pro images as well as ST and MSA?
Oh, also +1 for Falcon support too.

It's both floppy and ASCI, looking at it.
