SuperVidel prepayment period has started!

Post by instream »

The SuperVidel/Svethlana/Extenders prepayment period is now open! :)

We have updated our PHP scripts so they contain all price variants of each product, and payment methods.
We accept EUR and SEK, and bank transfer and Paypal for payment methods. Note that Paypal charges ridiculous percentage fees and has very poor exchange rates from EUR to SEK (SEK is what we get from our bank and Paypal), so the prices when using Paypal are up to 6% higher than using Bank transfer.

You will see all the prices if you go to the main page at nature.atari.org, select the SV registration button, and then update your old registration or make a new one. If you have lost your password, please email us. Even if you don't want to change anything in your old registration, you must update your registration to be able to see the summary so you know how much to pay. And our database is only then updated with the amount and payment option you want to use.

We had some web browser cache issues when we tested this, so empty your history/cache before you go there, or you might see the old PHP-files.

Note also that we also accept orders of just the CT60 extender boards. Read the SV FAQ first before you order it, since it is a DIY soldering project.

I can't publish names of course, but if you go to nature.atari.org and click the Supervidel registration link at the main page, you can then select "Current status". In there you can see the number of registered boards, divided per country. :)

Yes, we saw you had updated your registration. :) Have you sent the VAT ID, company name and address to henrik@gildaelectronics.se? Then I will tell him to check his email :P

Update, submitted and paid.

I used Paypal, with their charges and fees, it was $388.27 total (279 euros starting
out).

Because I live in the US, I avoided the VAT, but got stuck with Paypal's fees.

Fair trade I reckon... :)

Did you check how much a bank transfer would cost you first? Even if you're outside the EU, a bank transfer from you costs us just 25SEK (about USD3.5). And the IBAN and BIC/SWIFT codes that you see on nature.atari.org when you select bank transfer are internationally valid, so there should be no problem from the US either.
Just a tip for all non-Europeans, that you don't _have_ to use Paypal. :)

Nah, thought about it, then just decided to go with Paypal. It's all good, no regrets. :)

The quicker we get all the payments the quicker we can place the order with the manufacturer.

Perhaps we've been unclear about the registration and payment period. To get a good overview of how many will actually honour their reservations from last year, we would like it if you re-registered now even if you can't pay until the end of april or so.

We would of course keep the payment period as short as possible but at the same time we realise that some/most people don't have the cash hidden away somewhere waiting for this.
I think that the end of april is a good first deadline. But waiting with paying until then is not recommended since the later you pay the later you'll get in the delivery queue.

If we have all the payments by May 1st we can tell the manufacturer to start. First they need to buy components. But some components may take up to 9 weeks for them to get, so we may end up around July 1st before production can actually start. Then there are vacations during most of July, during which the manufacturer closes down completely. So I guess production of the four new prototypes can start around August 1st. Production itself should take 2 weeks, so we can get the boards mid August. Then well have to test the new prototypes before saying yes to the final component mounting. That may take until Sept 1st or so, since we have jobs to run during week days.
It would have been much better if we could get the prototypes before they close for the summer, so we can test them thoroughly during our own vacation.
But that assumes that people are quick with paying, and that we're lucky with component delivery times.

We will make installation instructions for the SuperVidel (with and without extender boards, in original casing and not), the Svethlana and the Extender boards. Just haven't got that far yet

We have tested the SV on a CT60 (CT63?) with the CTPCI turned off, and it worked fine. There is no difference between the CT60 and CT63 regarding the SuperVidel. With for example the CTPCI turned on, using USB and Ethernet cards, we're quite sure it will work. We just have to make the SuperVidel avoid the register addresses that the CTPCI uses. There should be no other issues. If such should occur anyway, the SuperVidel firmware is easily upgraded from software on your ct60/3 without needing any cables, when we have fixed the issues.

Just ordered + paid for 1 SuperVidel + 1 Svethlana.
I think the SuperVidel should fit nicely into my 2nd CT60. :)
