VCF East 2019
I am presenting the ST part of the 40 Years of Atari Computers and the Legacy Of Jay Miner exhibit at VCF East this May. http://vcfed.org/wp/festivals/vintage-c ... -exhibits/
For at least part of the show I plan on running some demos and would like advice for which ones the community would suggest. The show is a family friendly event, so I need to be sure that the suggested demos aren't overly adult themed.
I have only begun to scratch the surface and will list the machines I was have on exhibit.
520ST (Original model with external disk drive) - Power Without the Price demo, FujiBoink!, & NeoChrome Slideshow
1040STf - Shiny Bubbles - ST Tour
Mega ST 2 - Cyberscape
Stacy - ? (something in ST High)
Mega STe - Official Atari STe Demo, Movie STe,Official Atari STe Demo II
TT030 - Shiny Bubbles TT, TT Wars, Adebug, Beams
Falcon030 - Lockup, More, Bird to be alive, F22.0, Electric Night, Tere ra'i
Again, I've only scratched the surface and want to represent the community the best way I can. Please share any input you may have.
Thanks,
-Pete

Re: VCF East 2019
For the 520ST I'd suggest the grusel demo as it's well done, fun and in my opinion shows the progression from 8 to 16 bits.
failing that or to follow the micromix 1 demo to demonstrate how demos progressed.
Oherwise I'd suggest the cuddly demos except the spreadpoint demo has the more profound word for poo' in it near the start, oh and don't reset the ST for the reset demo. Otherwise that would be the defining point (for me) that the ST showed what it could do. Or wasn't supposed to.

Thanks so much for the recommendations.
Re: VCF East 2019
Virtual Escape for your 512KB machine.
Odd stuff for your 1Mb machine
Fantasia for your MegaST
Sea of Colour for your STE
Falcon: Sonoluminzsenze (or however it's written), Underscore
Stacy: Monogatari
You've got the TT covered.

Thanks Christos!
Re: VCF East 2019
Yeah, that trumps my poor effort; I was old-school mindset when i posted - Sea of Colour is incredible (as are a lot of the newer demos)christos wrote:Virtual Escape for your 512KB machine.

Well you can't go wrong with the classics. The Union demo, cuddly etc are all amazing to watch.
Re: VCF East 2019
Just ran Virtual Escape. Wow! Definite for the exhibit
Re: VCF East 2019

Spider Patrol - Cyber Studio demo using CAD 3D and other Antic Cyber Studio programs. Compliments Cyberscape.
An Cool STE - I liked it, but may be monotonous.
Moving Pixels CD Demos - Do you have this CD-ROM that was sold back then? It had the Tina Turner "Simply the Best" demo on it for the Falcon that was used at its launch. It also had the STE demos they made for Atari when the STE came out. I think they won the first prize in a demo contest Atari was throwing at launch.
Snowman demo - What's wrong with Christmas in May?

California Raisins demo - I remember PC owners scoffing at this so they made their own version which had 2 colors and one pixel moving at a time.

Make sure you have some ghetto blasters to attract attention.

I plan to be there. Flying in from the opposite coast for this and general vacation.

Wow! What a collection, and so nicely displayed! Hope you had a great time! Is this an annual event?

Re: VCF East 2019
Yes, it is an annual event held in New Jersey, USA. I had a great time, but it is exhausting interacting with so many people in one weekend

Re: VCF East 2019
I bet! I have family in the US so as long as I can convince everyone that we need to spend a day in New Jersey next time we go, I should be able to make it in 2020.
Did you ever show the Falcon030 demo MORE? I have another demo for the Falcon030 ready. Will be released at Sommarhack in July.
Thanks for posting the pictures!
